NOTE: FAXES USUALLY ARRIVE WITH THE SENDER’S AREA CODE AT THE TOP — SO IT’S IMPORTANT THAT THE FAXES COME FROM THE CONGRESSMAN’S DISTRICT.

how about massive protest on the doorsteps of their homes in their district. How about doing it on the doorsteps of their parents home? How about at the place of business their spouse works at? Interviewing their neighbor with pithy questions asking them if they would like to live next door to a person who is going to confiscate 20% of their pretax income in the name of social justice? How about asking the neighbors if they want their children to play with communist?

Not a bad idea.

I'm not sure my fax machine even works anymore! But I used to send one page faxes handwritten with magic marker to Congresscritters. I was pretty sure someone would see these!

I would suggest rather than faxing a pdf'd page, that reproducing the idea on some of these with a magic marker might be more effective. (Even Congressional staffers can tell the difference between a Tea Party sign and an SEIU sign!)

I simply send them an e-mail that says if they vote for the current healthcare bills, regardless of details, that I will volunteer, work and donate to get them out of office.

If they don’t care about losing their job, nothing else will move their vote.

I simply send them an e-mail...

I appreciate the effort, but how many emails do you think the congress critter is actually shown by his staff? THE IDEA OF THE POSTERS IS THAT THEY ARE MORE LIKELY TO BIGGER, MORE OBVIOUS, AND MORE LIKELY TO BE SEEN, IF ONLY IN PASSING.

Thanks...I have my posterboard and am planning for the rally in DC on TAX DAY. Some might be helpful.

emails to representatives are just logged in as pro or con on each issue. mail is an actual “pile” of letters and might be at least seen in that context by the congresscritters themselves.

I wonder if they even print the faxes?

I guess everything helps sometimes. I think the plan to vote in this case is out of the members control at this point. The bargains have been made.

Go to http://freedomkeys.com/teapartysigns.htm and scroll to the links of the giant-size posters at the bottom. Don't be too sure about the outcome.

Rep. Lipinski is my Congressman. I sent him the following FAX a couple of days ago:

I urge you to refuse to vote for the Senate health care bill. A list of the reasons to do so would take many pages to list, so I’ll forbear from that. But here are a few:

1) It does not contain the Stupak amendment.

2) It is NOT budget-neutral. It cannot help but cost vast billions we simply do not have.

3) It’s scope is far beyond what’s needed to assist people without health care and does little to actually guarantee holding down costs.

4) It takes away people’s choices from where, when and how they get treatment.

Finally; this bill contains numerous bribes, earmarks, etc. to various Senators to gain their vote, such as in the Nelson matter. The President SAYS he’ll get that all straightened out in reconciliation. But consider what his record has been in keeping promises so far, and consider that after all he does not control the reconciliation process, Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid do. The Speaker’s seat is safe no matter what she does and Sen. Reid is almost certainly going to lose his election anyway and has little to lose no matter what he does. Once the President gets this bill it’s quite likely that he’ll put all his efforts behind the economy – remember the economy, that thing that unlike health care the majority of the country actually wants the Congress to do something about? And he’ll leave you hanging out to dry with the voters.

What this country needs in health care reform is a bill that was drawn up in a truly bi-partisan fashion, not one drawn up by one caucus with no participation by the other. One that concentrates on the issues that America can put together a consensus on, not 3000 pages that nobody’s read. A health care bill can be put together if the present Administration decides to be more concerned about what the American public wants than what he and the more leftist faction of your party thinks is best for us.

I put my address in the header so that he knows I'm a constituent of his.

I hate to tell you, but many congresscritters have virtual faxes.....so they can ignore your posters as easily as my e-mail.

Oh, yeah. Good point. I wish I could say I was knowledgeable when I said, "  FAX IT AND MAIL IT "  -- but I was just kinda, sorta guessing that the real, physical presence of actual posters would be a good thing to send via snail mail. Your point is well taken. Snail mail should be emphasized. Thanks.

Lipinski is my congressman too. There is supposed to be a rally outside his Archer Ave. office in opposition to the bill. I have to check on the date and time....I think its 4:30 to 6:30 pm Friday.

I’ve been calling Congress persons from this list today. Usually I get a busy signal the first time I call (that’s a good sign) but I just hit redial. In some offices you will get a voice mail message; but, you can’t leave a message because their voice mailbox is FULL (that’s another good sign).

Let’s keep the phone lines in Washington burning up; Freepers.
