The Virginia Attorney General responds to inquiries regarding Virginia colleges and universities itemization of "sexual orientation" and similar terms in discrimination clauses. Virginia AG Ken Cuccinelli advises that these state institutions have no authority to create protected classes, and that this power is reserved for Virginia's General Assembly.
The left has rallied to jump on Cuccinelli. Witness events at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and Cuccinelli's Facebook site.

Name something specific you want us to do and you’ll probably get help. I don’t do FB and many others here don’t either.
Write your favorite Virginia college or university executive body. Rallies are being held today, for example, at VCU. Write VCU’s Provost: provost@vcu.edu mailto:provost@vcu
Get on your favorite Virginia college Facebook page and jump into the discussion.
Contact your Virginia Senator or Delegate.
Contact Ken Cuccinelli with your support.
Get on Cuccinelli’s Facebook page, and jump into the frenzy of piranhas.
Points:
— equal protection of 14 amendment constitution
— creeping entry of special classes in discrimination clauses (race then gender then religion then disability...)
— state institutions cannot create new classes without General Assembly action
— vague meaning of “sexual orientation”
— there is good reason to discriminate, discern, differentiate, evaluate, fund, and act in favor of and against persons of certain orientations, in a variety of circumstances
was on there Saturday....some very nasty people were on. The site has been hijacked by the left. Just shows what the democrats are really like....it is educational lesson which parents can use to show (prove) to their children how sick liberals are. Ken is not advocating discrimination against same sex people he just said he is in control of the legal stuff not the state schools. The left what gone insane on his site..... Funny part is the Obama and company call tea party people close to terrorist yet excuse there own.
keep reminding people...we have to show support for our own or else the left will sink them...
True.
Libs are, by nature, more inclined to organize, protest, march, picket, break windows, and storm the palace than conservatives.
Middle of the road, apolitical, nominal conservatives (as you suggest) really need to see this sorta thing (the pirahnas on Cuccinelli’s Facebook site).
My note to the Provost:
Dear Provost,
As a taxpayer and citizen with a child in VA public college, I AGREE with the Attorney General. The State Constitution prohibits you randomly establishing policy regarding sexual preferences and establishing new classes of people without General Assembly Approval.
Despite the overwhelming urge for political correctness, you must follow the law and I urge you to do so.
Sincerely,
