WASHINGTON (AP) ― Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's wife and daughter are recovering in a Washington-area hospital after a car accident.
A spokesman for Reid says the majority leader's wife, Landra, and their daughter, Lana, were injured Thursday when their vehicle was rear-ended. Reid left the Senate for the hospital. The spokesman says details are unclear.

On another note, I’ll bet they are glad that the current health care system is in place for them to get immediate treatment. I’ll also bet they didn’t even consider going up to Canada to take advantage of its “unbroken” universal healthcare system.

Both women’s injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening — and both have sensation in their extremities, an indication that they aren’t paralyzed, Reid spokesman Jim Manley said.
“They are being treated at a Washington-area hospital. While driving on a Washington, DC, highway, their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck,” Manley wrote in an email.
“Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening. Senator Reid has been to the hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate.”
Reid was pulled out of a meeting and was rushed to the hospital to visit them but was expected to return to the Senate this evening, aides said.””
I am sorry they were hurt, but if it got Harry Reid away from the Senate floor, perhaps could it be divine intervention?
I’ll pray for Harry’s family, and for the unemployed men to not beat up their wives, and for the war not to be lost, and for Republicans not to act like slaveholders, and for Barak Obama to act black when he wants to and be articulate when he wants to.
