The Slaughter Solution: The Metamorphosis of The American Republic Into Government By Fiat
NewsReal ^ | MARCH 14 | LIZ BLAINE

A very dangerous act is being attempted by the Left to secure their rule over the American people and transform the legislative process from a Constitutional Republic to a government by fiat. Today on Fox News Sunday, Democratic leader Rep. Chris Van Hollen admitted Democrats intend to use the unconstitutional “Slaughter Rule” as a solution to ram nationalized health care through Congress without majority vote and in defiance to the will of the American people.

The Slaughter rule would declare that the House of Representatives “deems” the Senate health care bill “passed” by the House. House members would have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but would then be able to claim they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself. In other words, Democrats will avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law! They will take over one-sixth of the US economy without voting on it in direct violation to the legislative process defined by the U.S Constitution.

This is pretty bad, but no one is going to do anything about it.

Ummm, dems are going to be voted OUT of power over this one... that'll be enough.

We’re 8 months out from that, FRiend. I’m on the side of the fence that believes we won’t make it to the next election without a fight.

Rule by Royal Decree. That worked out so well for King George III.

IMO, Pelosi, Reid, the Fuhrer, his thug Administration, and the RATs in Congress are wiping their rears on our Constitution.

Let’s see what the Supreme Court has to say about it first.

The real question: who is the "no one?"

It is supposed to be someone in government, someone who has been/will be elected to an office? Is it some government appointed judge? Is it some non-profit?

I'm begging the question of exactly who "we" expect, mo demand - "do something to stop this?

What the dims have done, is to toss this in the laps of "We the People," in my opinion.

Next question: how do "we" go about "doing anything?"

I'm not attempting to be smart here, I'm merely questioning what would be our first steps at stopping this unconstitutional power grab?

Charles Krauthammer made a great point on reconciliation if this nightmare passes in the House - you’d have better luck believing in Peter Pan.

They’ll use the slaughter option to pass the senate bill

Oh, they would pass it in a heartbeat if they could get away with it.

But they are questioning right now if it would actually be worse for them than passing the real bill.

The repercussions for those in shaky districts could be worse.

Plus, in your scenario they will still have to come back after Recess and hash thru reconciliaton in the months pre-election (airing all the ugly details of the bill). Not a good thing for these Demoncrats.

You are right. But if the SCOTUS rules against congress and POTUS, what prevents them from jointly giving SCOTUS the middle finger salute? This is called a Constitutional crisis. How is that managed? Who is in control at that point? This could get real ugly!

Reminds me of Uraguay and the removal the president that deigned to exceed his constitutionallly limited term of office. It resulted in the other branches by government removing him by force with assistance of the military. Obama stood behind the removed presidente’ as you may recall.

But, but.........Nancy Pelosi and others have said that “the American people don’t care about the process, they care about results”. They truly feel in their liberal minds that the ends justify the means when done in support of liberal causes.

I think Obama said something similar, that we shouldn’t focus on what the process will be, but we should proceed to a vote in Congress.

It’s crazy to watch these Democrats justify this; the same Democrats who worried about losing civil liberties due to the Patriot Act, and thought that Bush was spying on their phone calls and all that. The same people who want us to bend over backward to prove to Bin Laden that we will give constitutional rights to enemy combatants (can we still use that term), and live up to our highest ideals and all that, at this point will do anything to go around established legal procedures in the passing of Congressional legislation. They do not want us to live up to our highest ideals in the functioning of Congress do they?

If the Supremes slap this crap down as unconstitutional and the dems are actually stupid enough to force a constitutional crisis by outright defying the Judicial branch then I believe there will be violence and uprisings in the street. This is because the dems will show, beyond even the most generous form of reason, that they are attempting to hijack the nation.

“they don’t have law, even when the Senate bill is signed by Obama.”

Huh? Once Obama signs the House-passed Senate version of the bill, it is LAW!!!!

True, they want to “fix” it through a reconciliation bill that amends selected parts of the new law, but there is no guarantee they will be successful, in which case the Senate bill—warts and all (cornhusker kickback,Louisiana purchase etc.)—is the law of the land. This is exactly what makes some House members very nervous. They don’t want to be on record as voting for a turkey that will enrage their constituents. If they could be ASSURED the Senate would pass reconciliation—which allegedly strips out the objectionable provisions—then there would be no need for Slaughter solution.

That was in Honduras, they are attempting to give obama the power given to Chavez in Venezuela by his cronies.
Things are slightly different in the USA, we have the right to bear arms to protect ourselves and our country from enemies both within our country or outside our country.
Last year eclipsed all years in the quantity of arms purchased.
Believe me there are plenty patriots that believe, that the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots.
We will not allow tyranny to take over without a fight.

If they were determined to be so ignorant, perhaps nothing, in the near term. But I would be shocked if the effect weren't a complete turnover in the next election - an probably some kind of trials afterward.

violation to the legislative process defined by the U.S Constitution.

If the dems can get away with this why can’t republicans change the rules to override a presidential veto when they take over congress this Novmeber? Perhaps a simple majority could override a presidential veto. Wouldn’t that infuriate the dems?

It’d be the congressional way to neutralize the executive branch. Just think of the mischief it would allow. LOL

THX for the correction. I should have looked it up. And I agree with you about everything else.

While we scuffle and fight for our liberty though, there are outside forces ready to pounce as we focus in more than out. All I can say is, these are perilous times and the liberal heads that got us here will need to roll.
