The New York Times's top movie critic A.O. Scott on Friday reviewed “Green Zone,” a leftist fantasy about the Iraq War starring Matt Damon, in which the U.S. military are the bad guys.

Scott embraced the movie's hard-left politics and fantastical anti-military plot, showcased in the movie's “hero” played by Damon, disillusioned Army officer Roy Miller

Without divulging the paranoid plot points of the narrative, (Damon's character is targeted for assassination by the U.S. military and corrupt government officials) NY Times A.O.Scott vouched for the basic truth of the anti-American story.

You probably will. He and Michael Phillips from the Chicago Tribune just recently started hosting “At The Movies” as the this-time-for-sure (for now) replacements for Ebert and Roeper.

AO Scott looks like a sad parasite.

Why isn’t he in Government?

Wow. I suspected as much.

I’ve hardly been to the movies in years now. I used to go quite regularly, but not in almost a decade now. There is a growing list of actors who I simply can’t abide, I can’t sit and watch them in anything. Its not so much a boycott as the fact that I simply can’t sit and look at them.

And there is a second problem that movie actors have especially since 911 and the military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many many families have sons, uncles, dads, grandkids serving in the military, serving in combat. When you know what a real marine looks like, when you know what a real soldier looks like, and acts like, its hard to take these Hollywood girlie men seriously as heros.

In another era actors left Hollywood to go and serve in combat, or at the very least behind the lines in some capacity but many actually served in actual combat. These actors went on to be beloved figures right to the end of their lives and whats more they were believable in whatever role they played because behind the role was a real human being with real life lived and it showed in their work.

I thought it was pretty good. It wasn’t pure leftist cant, in my opinion. There are, of course, little spins througout, but I was able to enjoy it none the less.

I hope libtard movie critics continue to hail it and give it thumbs up....its like having Jack Squat endorse you as a candidate...it = the kiss of death, especially since the movie flopped at its opening....

$14.5 million in its opening weekend, in wide release. Its budget was approximately $100 million. There’s a very good chance it will never break even, at least until they show it in places like Iran and Venezuela.

Meanwhile, The Blind Side (the pro-family, uplifting Sandra Bullock movie) has made well over $200 million in its run from a $26 million budget. But do you think Hollywood will see those two sets of numbers and get the message? Probably not. They still think they’re smarter than we are.

And on late night TV,

etc.

Ha ha!! The Green Zone made very little $$$ compared to Alice in Wonderland!! Actually the “Green Zone” is more fiction than “Alice”.

We have one of those historic theaters nearby that we like to go to. Only one movie plays at a time, and the owner chooses his movies carefully. Right now he's showing 'Blind Side.'

Green zone is bombing. Opening weekend gross just $14.5m, versus $62M for Alice in Wonderland's second weekend.

Movies tend to make most of their gross in the first two weeks. This movie is unlikely to make back production costs.
