And Altmire could still be a no vote. He has beat out Melissa Hart twice (who held the seat before) in a district that is conservative. If he sees the winds changing and its not going to pass, I suspect he might vote no to save his career. He knows that this is against his district’s wishes and the Tea party here will target him like no one else and will make it their number one priority to defeat him. I suspect Hart will run against him again. She has name recognition. Abortion is a big item in these parts and not standing with Stupak will hurt him big time.

If Alan Boyd votes yes he can kiss his seat goodbye. North Florida is RAT by registration numbers, but conservative.

Firedoglake, a VERY liberal site, has a good running whip count.

I read some of the comments posted at that link. Even the libs don't seem too happy with this health care bill and it being ramrodded through.

ABC Jonathan Karl Has The Democrats At About 210 Votes on Health Care

216 voted yes in November, 37 voted no, they currently have about 210..

Karl says they have contacted all 37 Democrats who no in November, and there’s not a single one who said they definitively will vote yes this time...

I went headboat fishing this past summer with a guy who was a soldier in the Romanian Army at that time. He said the Ceaucescus squealed like pigs when they lined them against the wall and shot them to pieces with their AK-47s. The lesson is that even in a totalitarian state the military is still the sons and daughters of the population and thats who they will protect.

Good for you
all you need to do is ask how “MY congressman. woman is voting”
they won’t tell you of course
then say that you expect theRep to vote AGAINST it and to work on a New Good bill if he/ she wants to be reelected

remember to block your number
and have a city with zip code in their district handy. They will ask for your address but you don’t need to give it,
just tell them you are a constitutent

Give Marcy Kaptur a call. She represents Toledo, Ohio and is a solid lib, but she's reportedly wavering over the abortion coverage in the Senate bill. It doesn't hurt that the Bishop of Toledo voiced his opposition to the bill in parishes this weekend.

Her receptionist was nice. Give her a call and say a prayer that she can be swayed.

WHy arent they physically laying down in the hall? Why arent they screaming from the roof

All that does is make the leftist base angry and gets them calling their reps.

We don't need that right now. Plenty of their base DO NOT LIKE this bill and we want to keep it that way.

Don't blame the Repubs. The blame needs to remain squarely on the Dems.

I just went to Brian Baird’s website and noticed that he is not seeking re-election. Accordingly, he can flip the bird at his constituency and do whatever he wants. Great.

Democrats need 25 of a combination of the 17 potential No-Yes flip votes and the 20 potential Yes-No flip votes. So they need 25 out of the remaining uncommitted 37.

Would it be enough if 25 out of those uncommitted 37 just voted "present"? Perhaps they could be convinced to emulate their fearless leader Zero.

I just got thru (in about the last half hour) to Jason Altmire’s local office. I had tried earlier in the day, but it was a constant busy.

The woman who answered sounded highly stressed and frazzled; I asked if Altmire was, as is being reported, a YES vote now; she said he has not made up his mind...and I said that he should be voting NO and voting for the best interests of Pennsylvanians...NOT the far left wing of the Democratic party. I told her specifically ObamaCare hurts seniors (PA is a very elderly state) and the pre-born with the abortion provisions in the bill. She remained silent and sounded as though she was taking down my ‘statement.’

She did not ask for my zip code, but, if they use caller ID I have the same area code as their office.

All I can say is keep calling them...I am sure Altmire has made up his mind (or SanFranNan made it for him!) but they have to know that this is a career ender. Period.

Are you sure they’re about 12 or so votes down? I sincerely hope you’re right.
