Ramat Shlomo in No man's Land - Not Eastern Jerusalem
Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 16 March 2010

Makor Rishon correspondent Arial Kahaneh reports in today's edition that a check of the maps signed by representatives of Israel and Jordan on 4 March 1949 in Rhodes finds that Ramat Shlomo is located in "No Man's Land" rather than in territory that at the time was designated as being under Jordanian control.

Among areas having the same "No Man's Land" status are Kfar Ruth. Shilat, Lapid, Neveh Shalom (the Arab-Israeli community) part of the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem highway route 1, Mini Israel and Ramot.

Which is why it's been on the Israeli side of the line in both peace agreements the Arabs rejected. No matter, all of Israel belongs to the palestinians.

It’s none of our damn business what Israel does on its historic territory that it re-captured from Jordan. Just as it’s none of Israel’s business how many condos are built in Texas, Arizona, or New Mexico.

Please folks, do your own research on Jerusalem. All of these areas that the Israeli’s are claiming are Jewish areas, never inhabited by Palestinians. It is like the palestinian’s outcry of the rededication of the Hulva Synagogue in the Old City. The Jordanians came in and murdered many Jews during the War of Independence in 1948. They totally destroyed (with the exception of one arch, that stayed for decades as a symbol) the Hulva Synagogue, which was the lead Ashkenazi Synagogue in Israel. It was built in the 1850’s and was one Jordan’s primary targets. They removed most of the Jews in the Old City and confiscated their land (which they had proper title to.) Now, abbas and the palestinians do not want to recognize the site at all. To get a perspective on the difference between arab justice and Jewish justice, look at the photographs of the Synagogue, and you will see that the Israeli’s never tore down the Mineret that is still connected to the Synagogue and is still permitted to give its prayers over a loudspeaker (at frightening volumes.)

Israel has been building in that area since it won it from Jordan - with begrudging Jordanian approval, from virtually day one. The US, nor any other state, with the sole exception of Syria has ever disputed Israel's right to build there - until recent years. But, not even Syria has not tried to stop building there - until the United Nations was brought into this latest 'peace process.'

With Obama, the UN, Russia and the EU as the 'overseers' of this 'process,' Israel will eventually be reduced to less than its 1967 borders - deliberately making Israel far less able to protect itself.

I lived in Jerusalem for years and ever since I heard about the Ramat Shlomo matter, I was sure RS was in a no-man's land.

It was clearly an open space in between Israeli and Jordanian held positions 1948-1967. Sort of like Route 1 between Sheikh Jarrah and Ammunition Hill.

Ah well, no matter. I don't care to nitpick. As far as I'm concerned, all of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria belongs to Israel and if Obama doesn't like it, he can pound sand.

The Palestinians have no moral right to a state in Judea and Samaria and they can go to Jordan if they want citizenship rights - Jordan is a Palestinian state.
