If you'd like ON or Off the Nascar at FR racing threads&stuff Ping List, let me know via Private Reply. Thanks!

This is not a High Volume Ping List and is intended primarily to alert folks of the posting of the weekly Nascar qualifying and race threads.

Occasional sports or military or prayers Pings using the list may also be sent as situation or subject dictates.

Profanities, flame wars and belligerence in observing common sense rules and family decency standards on the thread may result in serious sanctions so be nice. :-)

BMS wins $397,000 tax case: A Nashville judge has ruled that Bristol Motor Speedway does not have to pay a $397,000 tax assessment from the state of Tennessee. Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle, in an order unsealed Friday, ruled in a dispute over money the racetrack brings in from the broadcast of NASCAR races. The speedway last year challenged the assessment, claiming the state Department of Revenue was illegally taxing the track. Speedway officials argued that television rights are intangible and that any money derived from the sale of them is not subject to Tennessee sales or business taxes. The suit also claimed the state wrongfully taxed the speedway for money it makes from mailing fees on tickets and from leasing space to vendors. Lyle wrote that the assessments "do not fall into the category of tangible personal property." The judge also ruled that "the relationship ... from the NASCAR agreement is more in the nature of a joint venture than contract of service by the (track) to NASCAR."(Kingsport Times News)(10-19-2009)

Offhand, I'd attest that Nascar broadcast coverage is, um, intangible - glock

Hey there ST. We had six inches of snow Saturday, and it was 60 today. Gotta love spring. Can’t tell whether to get out the snowblower or mower. Until I decide, I think I’ll stay here in the den and watch a movie with my kid.

... or get out the tiller.

Dunno about Luke. These were in a group which at least at the time, flew out of Hill AFB. They had a small flock of Hill’s (likely 388th) Falcons in trail. I think it was a flyby for a football game or something... don’t know if they have any 22’s on station at Hill.

Tyndall AFB FL Elmendorf AFB AK Langley AFB and Holloman AFB NM Have F22 squadrons. Hickam AFB HI is due to go operational if they aren't already.

TDY birds could be anywhere.

The wing we put on there was just a glorified spoiler. It sat down on the deck lid and wasn't very appealing, and we weren't really using it efficiently.

Sort of like the spoilers they put on front wheel drive production cars?

Keselowski “Won’t Back Down” at Bristol
http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=AtVudj1jdh1rZBP.keW.jR_ov7YF?slug=ap-nascar-bristolintroductions

BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP)—Brad Keselowski chose “Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers as his song selection for driver introductions Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The song choice is a clear message from Keselowski, who has vowed not to change the aggressive driving style that has gotten him to NASCAR’s top level but also angered several veterans.
