Your Answers are Confidental
U.S. Department of Commerce | March 17, 2010 | olepap

An insert in my Census questionnaire is quite explicit that the information collected by the Census cannot be used by law enforcement or tax collection agencies. It cannot be used in court. This means the threat of a fine is invalid.

Heres the boilerplate:

Federal law protects your privacy and keeps your answers confidential (Title 13, USSC). The answers you give on the census form cannot be obtained by law enforcement of tax collection agencies. Your answers connot be used in court. They cannot be obtained with a FOIA request.

I did the same thing. For race, I put “HUMAN”.

I then referred them to Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution.

I do not trust this government at all. You never know when an IRS audit may rear its ugly head or worse.

Isn’t is distasteful, bordering on revolting, how DC denizens are obsessed with only our differences? Race, income, housing, etc.

It’s not a scientific, anthropological interest. It’s simply a precursor to and a mechanism for divide-and-conquer.

I’m going to keep saying it until you guys get it right and quit asking. It’s very simple. If you live in:

Free states - fill out the number who live there. No additional info for the race-baiting, government preference pushing crowd to use.

Urban failures - trash the thing. They’re losing population but making up for it with illegal aliens and vote fraud. The sooner they lose reps the better.

And the message from the Director, U.S. Census Bureau says: “Please complete and mail back the enclosed census form today”.

I’ll mail it after April Fools’ Day.

For the race question, I marked the box by “White”, and marked out white and wrote in pinkish/tan. I checked the American Indian block and did not put in my tribe, which is Cherokee. I checked the “other” block, and wrote in Human.

Uh, yeah...CONFIDENTIAL. Well CONFIDENTIALLY, I don’t believe one damned thing I’m told by the federal government. I put 2 as the number of residents in my home and mailed my form back to the census people. (Also wrote in AMERICAN under the race section.) Gee, the Commerce dept was right...it WAS an easy form to fill out!

If I fill out the form today, I would be unable to answer the first question on enumeration and residence. Guess I can just send it back blank. He He hehe hehehe!

The question asks how many people were living at this address on April 1, 2010. Past tense on a future supposition.

Only The Annointed One can predict the future.

I’ve modified the form 3 times now...first with almost everything except a phone #, then removed whether I owned a house or not, and now just giving them the count of people in my house....thanks Freepers for reminding me that the govt doesn’t need to know all this info....

We haven’t got our piece of crap yet. I’ve heard that even after you fill the damned thing out they have someone call you speaking in either ebonics or with a Mexican accent to ‘follow up’ on your responses.

It can, apparently, be used by the government if they want to ship you off to internment camps.

Or does it mean that simple assertion of failure to answer is actionable?

The answers WILL be released. By law (somewhere within Title 44), the Census data WILL be revealed to the public in 72 years. While that is a long time, it does eliminate the argument "will be kept confidential" by the fact that your answers WILL be released. This, of course, violates the 4th Amendment, esp. as the release has already been established and the delay is subject to simple legislative alteration from "72" to "now".

(I'm reminded of the joke ending "...we've established what you are, now we're just negotiating price.")

Sent mine back today. Only answered how many people live here. That’s it. You do not have to answer anything else.
