Breaking with Israel: Who will trust America now?
NY Post ^ | March 18, 2010 | Ralph Peters

If the Obama administration continues to betray Israel, will any ally ever trust us again?

We've been viewed as a fickle (if mighty) partner at least since the 1970s, when we abruptly dumped allies from Saigon to Tehran. Now the White House not only delights in insulting our closest traditional ally, Britain, but has intensified its diplomatic pogrom against Israel -- our only respectable ally in the Middle East.

President George W. Bush was mocked for shooting from the hip, but this administration fires with its eyes closed.

Obama's unbalanced actions shrivel confidence among allies around the globe -- partners we need. Policy differences are one thing, but gratuitous attacks by the White House are quite another.

Well i hate to point this out. But actually “breaking”
with Israel would “win the US many hearts” especially
from most of the european allies.
You know Israel is not really “popular” (To say it
kind) in most of Europe.

Mr. Peters is naive. Everything that obama has done, domestically or foreign has weakened our country. No one bats 1,000 through incompetence.

The greatest accomplishment of the Left in the Twentieth Century was to successfully depict Hitler as a conservative.

IMO, it is much easier to punish friendly nations in contrast to challenging or punishing unfriendly, hostile, communist, socialist, or Islamofacist nations. Kind of like beating your spouse would you not say?

I wrote this a few days ago - maybe it will help explain why so many American Jews throw Israel under the bus.

The US has a what I call “Jews in Food Only” and it does seem they are in the majority of the Jewish population.

If you delve into voting records of US Jews you’ll find the more Orthodox in beliefs and lifestyle the more Conservative; this is carried over into their voting patterns. Hasidic’s in particular are staunch Conservative/Republican voters.

Sadly there are way too many Jews in the US who have replaced the Torah, their religious traditions and beliefs with liberalism. It is not hard to find those who call themselves Jews but never go to Temple or keep the Sabbath. They may “celebrate” some of the High Holidays but even that turns into an opportunity for a family/friends dinner party.

I grew up with (my own mother) and know so many Jews whose entire connection to Judaism literally is eating bagels lox and cream cheese, white fish, hearing and cream sauce, chopped liver and matzo balls. While I am now a Christian having converted years ago, I follow more teachings of the Torah then most of the Jews I know including those in my own family.

The Torah, God’s teachings, traditional family values and Orthodoxy keep getting pushed further down in importance as liberalism consumes another generation of Jews.

I honestly can not figure out why this continual descent into liberalism keeps happening. Obama has never hidden his dislike of Israel and Jews in general. Biden isn’t much better. Hillary was quoted more than a few times making disparaging remarks about and directly at Jews. Maybe someone else can answer what we all want to know, why?

Recently Bibi’s Brother-in-Law made the connection between American Jews who vote against the interests of Israel (he called out Obama specifically) and American Jews who have stopped giving their children a religious education. It coincides exactly with voting patters of US Jews - 72% no religious education, 28% do provide religious education - the exact breakdown polling shows time after time, election after election with.

God forbid it would take Iran dropping a nuke on Israel to wake up American Jews.

IMHO, many Jews in urban areas have a bad case of “Stockholm Syndrome”..

Certainly not while the Bummer is in office.

The Jewish bible (Christian Old Testament) does warn that it is better to trust in the Lord than to trust in "princes." This might help get spiritually apathetic Israelis off the dime, so to speak, not that I would ever personally wish the present means upon them. I only wish them blessings even as Obama continues to curse them.

It's a shame that the rest of the world has to hang on the ebb and flow of American politics. A conservative/populist Republican comeback, which could be floodlike in proportions, would probably restore the status quo from prior to Obama or even improve on it.

LOL... gotta have those matzo balls with that biblically improper ham sandwich. It's like "who's going to touch us over here?" The Jews in pre-Nazi Germany probably felt similarly.

I can see that happening with Jews in Israel who are under constant threat or actual attack but not in the US. Aside from a relatively few ugly instances, Jews have done very well for themselves in the US and have used the American Dream to the fullest.

I tend to believe some of it is also generational with those whose parents/grandparents were allowed to come to the US either before WWII or after by Dem Presidents. I know for a fact that was he reason both of my Grandparents were lifelong Democrats. They felt a sense of obligation.

Exactly - the last Hanuka celebration I went to at my parents house had potato latkas of course served with apple sauce and sour cream, chicken soup/matzo balls, brisket, chopped liver, cheesecake for dessert (yea that’s Kosher) and gifts.

Not a single prayer was said even when my mother lit the menorah candles....

But she’s a proud Jew!!! lol

I’m not Jewish but The American Thinker has published some very good articles on the subject. “Robin of Berkeley” and Norman Podhoretz are both former leftist Jews who have changed their views and have published their views about Jewish liberalism there.

Most US Jews are ethnic/religious fooders, and support the Dems first, Israel last. There was another thread on this topic yesterday, I think.

Israel should still trust the United States. They should never trust the racist who will continue occupying our White House for 34 more dreary months.

The greatest accomplishment of the Left in the Twentieth Century was to successfully depict Hitler as a conservative.

Why do you say that? Zinn implies that Hitler was a closet republican. Surely you're not implying that the leading National Socialist was on the socialist end of the political spectrum.

There is an incredible amount of just under the radar violence in urban neighborhoods where the Sharptons and the Farrakhans hold sway. Personally, I’ve not reacted that way, buit I’ve seen it many times. “Maybe if we give them what they want, they won’t be so angry”..
