That was the family TV hour. So the boys liked Davey Crockett but his sister, mom and dad liked it enough to watch it all together

As much as I still enjoy John Wayne’s “The Alamo”, Fess Parker is the best Davy Crockett on the small screen or the large. He and Walt Disney helped shape my interest in history, making me want to know more and actually read to learn real history.

I remember being five or six and encountering “Davey” in full frontier regalia at the local drug store (also sold toys). I know now of course that it was just some tall guy in a costume but, then, for me, it was Davey.

I heard this on the radio earlier today. Fess Parker will surely be missed. He brought us good, clean, wholesome entertainment. Not to mention, he was quite the hunk.

I'm just a youngster compaired to you two :), I'll be 60 in June. I had a Davy Crockett coonskin cap, fringed jacket, belt, and toy flintlock. Sad day.
