It's official: Christiane Amanpour has been named the next host of ABC's "This Week."
CNN Worldwide President Jim Walton notified staff today that ABC will " announce today that she is joining that organization to headline one of its programs. " Walton noted that despite the "media speculation," the network where she's worked for 27 years has not yet commented.
Walton praised Amanpour's reporting over the years, and said that her "work burnished our news brand and gave it authority."
"In turn, the CNN imprimatur opened doors for her around the world and provided a global platform for the intelligent, courageous, principled reporting that is her signature," he said. "CNN and Christiane helped make each other great."
Since George Stephanopoulos moved to New York in December to host "Good Morning America," there's been a lot of speculation about who would take over the network's Sunday public affairs show.

What a load of BS, she is a complete 100% progressive liberal hack!
Amanpour the ‘War Slut’.
Nuff said.
I loathe her. LOATHE.
It's almost as if ABC went on a quest to find the one person who could infuriate conservatives Americans more than anyone else.
Choosing an Iranian to host a program about US politics. This is at the same genius programming level as removing Leno for Conan in late night programming. Amanpour’s ability to drip self-righteousness with every word could give Katrina vanden Heuvel a run for her money.
Wow a new skank bitch to not watch on a channel I already don’t watch.
I don’t watch this week or any week for that matter
I met her at a hotel in Jordan in 1998 when Clinton was about to start bombing Iraq, she was trying to get into Iraq through Jordan. Operation Desert Fox...when Sadam was a threat because a democrat was in the White House.
CLINTON: Good evening.
Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.
Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.
Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.
If we’re thinking quality:
If ABC were a car manufacturer - it’d be Yugo.
If ABC were a software manufacturer - it’d be Microsoft.
So, their temp bimbo is a perfect fit.
Will there be an “Arab Hero of the Week” segment? Or just Jew-baiting?
Thats a good thing.....
How about “American Atrocity of the Week”?
Will there be an Arab Hero of the Week segment?.....
Probably.....”Terrorist of the week”
LLS
David Brinkley must be spinning in his grave. Pity he can’t come back and kick ABC’s butt!
I have not watched since David Brinkley left. I used to enjoy the show back then.
Welcome to the AABC Network...
(as if they hadn't already been rehearsing for that change for decades...
