already done. instructed wife and kids to ignore knocks at the door and not talk to anyone we don’t know in the next few months who comes by the house.

I crossed out everything else and wrote “Decline to respond” on it.

My local news reported last night that if you do not answer questions on the census the government passed a law that makes you pay a $100 fine for every question not answered and $500 for each false answer - anybody know anything about this? Is it for real?

All I know is, researching my family history, I have really appreciated finding pages from the census where they listed their names, ages, occupation, whether they owned or rented, where their parents were born, and whether they could read. I don't mind providing that information, not for Obama's sake but for my future descendants.

Information more personal than that, hell no.

Then I stuck an mailing label on each remaining question that reads:

“UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

Information not required for actual enumeration for

The form I received has this statement on the last page:
Respondents are not required to respond to any information collection unless it displays a valid approval number from the office of Management and Budget

Only the first four questions (# of people, rented/owned, phone #) have an OMB number.

13. What is the due date for returning the form?

Households should complete and mail back their forms upon receipt. Ideally, all forms will be returned by Census Day on April 1, 2010. Census workers will visit households that do not return forms to take a count in person.

28. Do I fill out the form if I’m moving out before April 1, 2010, or if the unit will be vacant on April 1, 2010?

No, please do not complete the form. The census counts people where they live on April 1, 2010; look for a form to be delivered to your new address.

Misses the mark.
Most people who answer only Question 1 are protesting abuse of the Census.
Nobody is going to associate failure to complete the form with a healthcare vote.

They came to my door today and when I told them all I would give them were how many people lived in my house, they said that is all they wanted.

They then started down a list of interview questions. I stopped him right away and slammed the door!
