Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on remarks made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today:
Last year, when Nancy Pelosi went to see the pope, she was denied the opportunity to exploit him: photographers were not invited into the room for the typical photo session. Instead, Pope Benedict XVI reminded her of the duties expected of public Catholics. But her determination to play the Catholic cardoh, so selectivelyrebounded again when she informed the media that today is the feast of St. Joseph, a special day of prayer for workers, and especially Italians. She apparently stopped short of blessing herself, though she didn't stop short of invoking St. Joseph's name in support of the health care bill. Separation of church and state fanatics who suffered apoplexy whenever George W. Bush dropped the Lord's name are not expected to take to the streets.
Then Pelosi lied. She said she is grateful for the support of 60 orders of nuns, not mentioning that the letter she received had a whopping total of 55 signatories. Worse, she had the gall to say that this represents "every order you can think of." Wrong. In fact, there are 793 religious communities, which means she heard from seven-and-a-half percent of them. Moreover, since there are approximately 65,000 nuns in the U.S., that means she was contacted by .0008 percent of them.
In other words, not only are the bishops formally opposed to the bill she champions, it's a lie to maintain that the nuns are on her side. Shameless is too kind a word to use to describe what Pelosi did today.
God’s gonna get her for that.
Pelosi lies. Just stop there. This miserable harpie is the biggest shame of a party that is beyond shame.
Her abuse of the Constitution is unpatriotic. There. I said it.
What an unholy harpie. She crawled out of hell to be a walking plague to us all.
And her gangster father too
What have I been saying for years?
All the time.
It's what they do.
It is really quite simple, she should be formally excommunicated.

We will be judged.
She’s a white trash gangster who learned gangster tactics at her papa’s knee, and this is what we have as Speaker Of The House of the Congress of the United States of America. Patriotism is just a word she’s heard better men use.
Can the 55 nuns who did sign the letter really claim to be speaking for their entire orders?
I have a slightly different take:
NAncy PElosi is an outright bald-faced (bold-faced) liar.
“... He wanted to know if an out-and-out liar is more properly called a bold-faced liar or a bald-faced liar.
The truth is this: both are used, and so is barefaced. Bald-faced is the newest term; its first known print appearance dates back only 62 years, to 1943.
Bold-faced is some four centuries older than that, dating to 1591. Although you might guess bald-faced developed out of a mishearing of bold-faced, the meanings of the two adjectives are not synonymous.
Bold-faced means “bold in manner or conduct; impudent”; bald-faced has the same meaning as barefaced: “open; unconcealed”; and “having or showing a lack of scruples.”
Barefaced is one year older than bold-faced; its first print appearance dates to 1590. But the original meaning of barefaced was literal: it meant “having the face uncovered,” either “beardless” or “wearing no mask.”
No surprise to most of us, folks using the word barefaced were open to shifting the adjective into the metaphoric realm: barefaced soon came to describe something “unconcealed or open”; and then something “showing or having a lack of scruples.”...”
Just like a Dem
(spits, walks aways muttering)
Pelosi’s attempts to appear religious, look as genuine as her face.
C’mon archbishop Niederauer, shock the heck outta everybody and make a peep.
Even the devil quotes Scripture.
You are welcome.
Words mean things. All too often folks use words or phraes without knowing the ‘real’meaning.
I get a kick out posting the Etymology of words and hope others enjoy the history of our culture - one piece at a time.
Reminds of the begining of the movie “Dawn of the Dead”......Where they say......”When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth.”
Yup. This woman creeps me out every time I see her mug.
Oh Karma Baby!!! I’ll need a beer and a lawn chair for this one!!!
Because "gemini" just means "twins" (actually "born together") in Latin same as "didymoi" in Greek, and there were lots of twins around (like Thomas Didymus, a/k/a Doubting Thomas).
Also, Romans didn't speak English, but Englishmen spoke Latin, at least all the educated ones. So I think the derivation of "Jiminy" from Jesu Domine is more likely.
My grandfather used to say "Jiminy Christmas!" which confirms that derivation . . . it would be "Jesu Domine, Christe!"
He also always called a Coca-cola a "dope". He was born in 1890.
The older I get the more I realize how little know. Thanks. One of these mornings at the truckstop I may get to say, “By Castor and Pollux! This coffee’s cold.”
That's when it contained REAL dope!
I never know about “Ring Around the Rosie” until I saw a documentary on the Black Death.
No ... they are speaking only for themselves.
Actually, the Black Death connection has been pretty much been de-bunked - that ‘theory’ first showed up in the 50s..
An Olde English “Round” sone, it exisits in many different cultures.
Do a search, you may be surprised... at the number of different cultures, with no ties to Brittian, that have the song in one form or another - and the many variations as well.
