Ryan Phillippe Confirms Role in Big Valley Remake (Susan Sarandon replaces Barbara Stanwyck)
Screencave ^ | March 19, 2010 | Krystal Clark

IMDB only has Sarandon, Phillippe, Bruce Dern and our very own Jason Alan Smith from Do Not Disturb listed as the attached cast, but in Phillippe’s latest interview he revealed that there’s more people involved…

According to Phillippe, “I think I’m doing a Western in May, with Susan Sarandon, Billy Bob Thornton, Richard Dreyfuss [and] Bruce Dern,” he said. “It’s called The Big Valley, which was a [television] series in the ’60s, and so it’s sort of based on that.”

I'm holding out for a big screen remake of the Soupy Sales Show.

btw they also say Chris Carter has been offered Captain America. Probably the Red Skull organizes tea parties.

No one can replace Barbara Stanwyck especially Susan Sarandon. I wish they wouldn’t do this. The people were great in their roles and I always hate to see them destroyed.

If they want to do things like this; why don’t they go several generations into the future?

I thought they already did. Wasn't "Who's the Boss?" supposed to be the story of the great-great-grandchildren of the Barkeley family, after they had lost their wealth, moved from Stockton, and become middle class?

Big Valley??

Is that slang for a part of the female anatomy, or the cast? Because it looks like they've picked the biggest bunch of liberal ****** to act in it.

I guess the creative masterminds in Hollywood must have run out of comic books to turn into movies - they’ve moved on to remakes of old soap-opera western TV shows.

Barbara Stanwyck was also a friend of Ayn Rand. Susan Sarandon sounds as far away from Ayn Rand as possible.

Barbara Stanwyck was such a great actress, with such presence, and Sarandon simply doesn't measure up.

Though I wonder how many FReepers would be so high on Stanwyck if they knew about HER personal life.

Choosing actresses for roles based on their politics is retarded. If I thought Sarandon could do the role, I don't give a damn what she does with her personal life. If I could only see movies by Conservatives, who's that leave me to see? Chuck Norris isn't exactly getting the best scripts these days.

I don't dislike Sarandon's acting because she's such a bigmouthed lib; I dislike her acting because she's a big bore onscreen.

I didn’t know that. I really don’t know very much about Hollywood celebritards.

I was just thinking of a woman with a strong screen presence to play the Stanwyck role.

From David Horowitz's newsrealblog.wordpress.com,
April 2009:

"“Free Mumia” rallies were held to cheering throngs across the United States and Europe. Among the luminaries convinced of Jamal’s innocence were: pro-Castro socialist actor Ed Asner; America-hating university professor Noam Chomsky; America-hating activist Ramsey Clark (affiliated with the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party); actress/antiwar activist Susan Sarandon; film critic Roger Ebert; actor/antiwar activist Mike Farrell; Marxist professor Howard Zinn; socialist writer Norman Mailer; Robert Meerepol (the son of Soviet spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg); America-hating filmmakers Michael Moore, Spike Lee, and Oliver Stone; longtime communist radical Angela Davis; and the late actor Ossie Davis. The city of Paris went so far as to make Jamal an honorary citizen."

IMBD is the most unreliable source of information about yet to happen ‘films’. They are notorious for having folks post their fantasy wish list films ( including a winner with TIm Allen, Britteny Spears, and Bette Midler.....)

No one can make a successful version of The Big Valley. It was iconic. It would be like trying to remake the High Chapperal or Gunsmoke

Good stuff you posted here

A couple of observations--they must have bumped Karpinski back up to brigadier general when she retired because she was supposedly, IIRC, to be broken to colonel for her incompetence in managing abu gharib. I was under the impression that the next rank was awarded at the pleasure of the DOD or something like that. The other observation is that all of them on the list are in proper company with the cop murderer mumia scumbag. John CONyers is a perfect fit.

A couple of observations--they must have bumped Karpinski back up to brigadier general when she retired...

Much more significant than her ranking is the fact that she is affiliated with this bunch at all. Both she and John Conyers are or were smack dab in the middle of the prisoner abuse scandals and investigations, yet both are linked here and elsewhere to the Revolutionary Communist Party. The RCP is behind both "World Can't Wait" and the "International Commission of Inquiry On Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration"

Debunking the Deranged Charges by Media Darling Col. Karpinski

Let's see... the media needed to find someone to play along with their Haditha madness so who better than the... discredited, delusional, blaming, angry, and paranoid Colonel Janis Karpinski of Abu Ghraib fame who has mysteriously moved from villainess to hero in the eyes of the mainstream media.

Well, maybe not so mysterious since Karpinski is now a crowd favorite for the Far Left enthusiasts.

Karpinski with fellow extremist and Castro supporter Harry Belafonte at the January "International Commission of Inquiry On Crimes Against Humanity Committed by the Bush Administration"

Colonel Karpinski is a definite crowd pleaser with the anti-war crowd for her strange attacks on the military and Bush Administration.

You are right. I have to believe that the Bush administration was reluctant to pursue her incompetence to the fullest because of the huge blowback from the “scandal” much of which was fanned by CONyers. He gets a pass, I think, because he is africanhyphenamerican and has a double deck of race cards he can throw down.

There isn’t ONE of those ‘actors’ I would go see for free, regardless of the movie or it’s plot.

Can’t wait for Sex/City 2 and the Red Dawn remake to come out! Y U C K ! ! !

Iron Man 2, The Expendables and Wall Street 2 are the only flicks I want to see. Maybe Date Night too (I do like Steve Carell, even though I suspect he’s a lefty).

They are remaking “True Grit” with Jeff Bridges?!?!

"remakes"

The tv bigshots are planning a spin-off of the Big Valley western. It will be called Big Washington starring Barack and Michelle Obama as the owners of the White House, Big D Ranch. David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel will play the Peter Breck and Heath Major type roles. Nancy Pelosi will play the Linda Evans type role. Harry Reid will be the the lead ranch hand role. Guess who the villains will be? Only one guess.

It’s not even a question of who should star in a remake. It is yet another example of Hollywood being devoid of ideas, mining its own history for another remake. Why watch a “new” version when you can watch an old rerun?

Richard Dreyfuss did CBS's Gunsmoke in 1973.

True, he played "Gearshon Gorofsky" son of Russian-Jewish farmer Moshe Gorofsky, but Gunsmoke was very Western.
