No, I can't. But the fact is they can do so if they want. It's just that now they can't wreak havoc on our consciences by forcing us to pay for it.

Today, women in the United States are fighting for their lives. You must fight too! A woman’s right to have safe and legal abortion is about to be traded away.

And they are so transparently stupid. Stupak's amendment does not restrict abortion, provided that women are willing to pay for it themselves. It just stops government funding of it.

I just spoke to someone in Ellsworth’s office for almost 15 min. Very nice man, and patient with me. (ha) Ellsworth decided to vote YES “for the children.” He said he honestly believed that nothing would change for me if this passes. Riiiiight.

As the grandmother of a child that came to us unexpectedly, I can’t imagine my life without him! I am grateful every single day that his mother did not choose to abort him. What a blessing that little boy has been.

That’s my guess too. I think she is exactly where she was prior to the Stupek amendment discussion.

The question I have is — what was the purpose of floating the Stupek amendment? Was it Stupek laying the groundwork for covering himself and a no vote (meaning he can later say that he tried to work with them)?

He had to know it was not going to fly with the pro-abort gargoyles....

Stupak will fold like a cheap suitcase. Liberalism is a more important religion to him than his Catholicism. He'll try to get a face saving vote, but if not he'll fold, vote yes, and talk about the greater good of covering the uninsured. He will have had his 15 minutes and then he'll disappear into the woodwork. What we have now is pure Kabuki.

Bingo! I have thought this all along. It is desperation to hope that a lib will ever do the right thing.

That 'for the children' line always gets me. But it's okay for Mr. Ellsworth to vote for the bill that kills babies with federal $. I guess those children don't count.

The House Rules Committee was gaveled into session Saturday morning, the next step in the legislative process that will lead to Sunday’s debate on a landmark health-care bill. At the same time, Democratic leaders and President Obama mounted a final push to persuade 216 lawmakers to back the measure.

The Rules panel is likely to meet for several hours in a cramped room on the third floor of the Capitol. It will decide the terms under which the House will vote on the Senate version of the health legislation as well as a subsequent package of legislative “fixes.” The committee — on which Democrats have a 9-4 roster advantage — is expected to approve a so-called “deem-and-pass” strategy, under which the Senate bill would pass as part of the rule for debate and would not be subject to a separate vote.

That is exactly what I am so confused about. Why do things for the children and this whole thing stems on the right to murder them before they have the opportunity to even be born. Pretty soon, there won’t be any children left to do things for.
