Obama: Republicans fear health bill popularity
YAHOO ^ | 20 MARCH 2010 | AP

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is trying to rally support for his health care overhaul bill by telling Democrats that Republicans fear that the legislation will end up being popular.

In a televised meeting with House Democrats on Capitol Hill, Obama told the lawmakers that Republicans realize that once the bill becomes law, "Low and behold, nobody's pulling the plug on granny."

That was a reference to opponents' false claims last summer that the health bill would let government bureaucrats make life and death decisions.

Obama said voters would like the bill's features that take effect this year, including restrictions on insurance companies and allowing parents to keep insurance coverage for children until they reach age 26.

I have to say, I watched MSNBC last night and that was the mantra.... “Will Repub’s regret not going along with Health Care” like they are suddenly worried about our political future. Hysterical

"including restrictions on insurance companies and allowing parents to keep insurance coverage for children until they reach age 26."

Has anyone actually read this provision? Does it require that the parent's employer offer coverage to their employee's children up until the age of 26? Or, does it apply only to people who have individual plans?

If it's the former and not the latter, it's a HUGE back-door tax on employers. If it's the latter, it's going to inevitably raise premiums. Why is this so difficult to understand? There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Oh yes bambi, the deathcare bill is so wildly popular that is why you have struggled for nearly a year to get it passed, and with a supermajority, and still have not got it passed, and have had to repeatedly bribe and threaten even to get the votes you have.

What a compleat idiot.

The media will trumpet this lie and his supporters will believe it. Those people who voted for him think Fox, Rush, Hannity, Beck, etc. are all liars. They’re in for a rude awakening. I hope the bastards have a good time at their grandparents early funerals.

Yeah, some people with employer provided health insurance might think they like it until their monthly paycheck deductions and co-pays start rising. The new requirements of admitting people with pre-existing conditions and having to keep adult children up to age 26 on their parents policies will see to that.

The Republicans are not the problem Obama is having.

It's a little concerning that he wants to keep demonizing them. He has enough RATs in Congress to do whatever he wants - if they support him and his schemes.

Pray God after November the GOP will deserve his scorn.

Yes, employers as well as individual policies will be required to offer health insurance to “children” through age 26. I wonder if that includes the ‘childs’ wife and children as well.

once the bill becomes law, "Low and behold, nobody's pulling the plug on granny."

Under ObamaCare, they won't put the plug in in the first place.

The Health Choices Commissioner will decide what treatments a "qualified" health plan in the United States will be allowed to pay for, and "wasteful" spending on older people with a deemed "lower quality of life" will not be approved.

Meanwhile, gender reassignment surgery, gold-plated AIDS treatment, drug rehab treatment, sexual addiction treatment, and any other medical treatment desired by groups comprising the Left coalition will be approved by the Health Choices Commissioner for payment by qualified health plans.

The two states in which I'm familiar, FL & OH, have similar laws, but they only include non-married dependent children. FL goes so far as to say that the children must be living at home and perhaps even in school (IIRC). OH definitely requires that the child live at home or is in school (or suffers from some medical infirmity which precludes them from working).

In his marxist dreams.

I work for a health insurer and I’m here to tell you, between the 2009 Mental Health Parity act and this obscenity your premiums are going to explode come renewal time.

If you work on a budget, I recommend doubling your estimate for your monthly premium.
