Black support high for Obama's race-neutral stance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In this banking center walloped by the Great Recession, where unemployment just hit a 20-year high and as many as one in three black people are out of work, blacks could easily be frustrated with President Barack Obama's insistence that a rising economic tide for all will lift African-American boats.

Yet despite surging discontent among some black advocates over Obama's refusal to specifically target rising black unemployment, it's hard to find average black folks here who disagree with the president's approach.

"He has been addressing the black agenda as far as health care, education, all that," said Tamera Gomillion, a bill collector who has been struggling to pay her own bills.

"It took eight years to get into this mess, so it's going to take time to get us out," she said. "I voted for him, and I'll do it again."

4% unemployment under Bush. Considered Full empoyment.

10% under Obama is now looking at the best we can do.

Is she struggling because she is too lazy or stupid to find her check book or is she unemployed?

So 80% of blacks support Zero’s job killing agenda. Next up: amnesty for illegals, then more taxes on energy. All of this will hit blacks hardest and yet they’re cheering for it. George Bush was a much greater ally of blacks than 0bama is. They’re completely bamboozled by a couple of grams of melanin and their slavemaster Democrat lying propaganda.

A sinking tide grounds all boats.

Equality is SO wunnerful!

It took eight years to get into this mess,

Only the truly ignorant or dishonest would spout this crap. IAC, they couldn't back it up with anything but lies if challenged.

“It took eight years to get into this mess, so it’s going to take time to get us out,” she said. “I voted for him, and I’ll do it again.”

Most of the problems stem from the last two years of Bush's second term; that's when the Democratic party won both houses.

Back in the days of Jimmy Carta, he was giving ‘title money’ away for people to remodel their homes. I went to Nicodemus, Kansas, and all black community. Because it was ‘all’ black, they got to be 1st in line to get their houses renewed. It was the 4th of July 1977, and I was putting shingles on the roof of black people.. White people were pounding nails on the roof, my brother Joe, Archie Edgell, and I was putting shingles on around the chimney, and could hear the black men downstairs cheering a baseball team playing, drinking their beer. Someway, people ‘just don’t appreciate’ things that they don’t pay for. So, it’s the PRINCIPLE about health care, the whole idea, that the government insists on making couch potatoes full medicine chests and compensation for them when they are too lazy to work. I’ve had to go MANY a day to work with fever, loose bowels, and knew I had to work to pay bills. Nothing ever is free, someone in the end is going to pay MORE if the gov’t is involved.

...a rising economic tide for all...

Didn't liberals berate Reagan for saying this back in the 80's? Liberalism is truly a mental illness.

She is struggling because her 45 inch flat screen is not as good as her neighbors 50 inch. She doesn’t understand why it is taking Obama so long to do something about it. But she’ll vote for him again cause eventually he’ll get to her.

Reagan’s “advisors” told him he could draw “needed” black support in 1984 if he would only sign King Day into law.

If we can reduce Obama’s approval among black community to 60 or 70%, he will be done. We need to break the black community groups like jessie jackson and alan sharpton. We need to pitch against each other.Divide and rule is the best policy. There is no other way republicans can get any decents votes from the African American community.

The black family was pretty intact in the U.S. until Lyndon Johnson. I sorry Ms. Gomillion, it didn’t take 8 years for you to get into this mess. It took 45 years of Democrat plantation rule to get into the fine pickle you and your folks are in.

Barack Obama has a deep-seated hatred of white people.

Nice thing to hope for, but it's only a pipe dream. There is only one conclusion any clear thinking person can draw from the fact that blacks vote monolitically for the Democrats election after election. Most blacks are socialists.

When I grew up, many of the textbooks in the school I went to were 10-20 years old, I had no color TV (for several years, no TV at all), no VCR, no cell phone, no air conditioning, no microwave oven, and no public assistance but I did have two parents living with me. Guess I must have got the better deal.

"Bush didn't give the poor people anything - Obama is doing that"

If you call 15-60% unemployment, drastically reduced future prospects, and an aggravated sense of race and class grievance 'anything', I guess Bush didn't give poor people those things, but 0bama sure is.

Gyasi Foluke, a retired black studies professor and Air Force officer, said there was some value to Obama's "universal approach," but it would not address the long-standing inequities between blacks and whites. "We are 400 years behind," Foluke said. "The universal approach has a fundamental flaw: You can never catch up."

And there you have it. Perpetual victimhood, ignorance, and divisiveness, to name just a few. This is the real problem in America, and pretty much everything else follows from it either directly or indirectly.

That said, I'll stop right there because I'm fed up with this crap and I may say something I might regret...

I'd go for the new 45" 3-D model, but at my age I just can't tote & run like I could when Watts was burning. I'd be lucky to get away with an iPhone, now days.
