Breaking: Stupak Sells Out Because of an Executive Order That Could Be Rescinded Tomorrow
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Paul Cooper

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) has announced his small group of Democrat pro-life voters are swinging their votes to support Obamacare. His reasoning is based on an Obama Executive Order that will supposedly keep the new health care bill from paying for abortions.

Pro-life groups have warned that this move is smoke and mirrors and that the Executive Order is not enough. The Susan B. Anthony list explains:

1. An executive order can be rescinded any time. President Obama could reverse it next week, next month, or next year. Should another pro-abortion president be elected in the future, it could be rescinded on inauguration day.

2. An executive order will not prevent insurance companies that provide abortion from participating in the exchanges.

3. Abortion funding in the health care legislation can be only be removed using the legislative process. An executive order not only doesn’t fix the problem, it isn’t needed to fix the problem, and could not stand a legal challenge.

You're right about the jackass part.

But he knew exactly what was going on through the entire process.

“Bart Stupak has officially become more stupid then Joe Biden.”

No he was just looking for a fig leaf to provide some kind of cover for voting for this. It will be interesting to see what happens in November, but I'm not hopeful that voters will even remember by then just what idiots they elected. Oh well, I guess it's on the cap and trade and amnesty.

How is it that MSNBC broke this story hours before anyone else? I wonder for how long the RAT Leadership knew they had a deal?

I think it is factually incorrect and also bad political strategy to say that Stupak's HCR reversal based on the EO is a bad decision because the EO can be reversed by Obama at the stroke of a pen.

It is certainly true that an EO can be so reversed but this is not why Stupak's reversal is a bad decision.

Stupak's reversal is a bad decision because the EO does nothing! It is utter B.S. The whole thing is a pretense. It does not change anything. It merely "explains" why the existing Senate language does not allow for federal funding of abortion. But this "explanation" is double-speak. There will be federal funding of elective abortion under the Senate HCR bill and the EO does nothing to change this.

Stupak sold out. That's the story here.

What Obama does in the future with respect to this EO is irrelevant. The sell-out is now!

It’s obvious this whole “pro-life” Stupak concern with the Bill was all a sham.

Rep. Bart Stupak speaking in Cheboygan, MI (video from last fall) sounds like he would have voted for the bill no matter what

So it is known that Stupak will vote for this bill under the belief that Obama will sign an EO banning abortion.

Excuse me, but isn’t that a bribe?

Stupak is not stupid. He was voting for this anyway. The EO is a misguided attempt to give Stupak credibility with voters. If Stupak is a chump, it will be because he thinks this gives him cover. He does not believe it will prevent taxpayer funded abortions. He had already said he could vote for the bill even without the EO.

May I make a bold prediction.

Dingell was trying to talk Stupak into it.

My guess is his (or both MI Dems) district(s) gets a huge building and medical bureaucrat jobs up the kazoo to support Obamacare.

The whole Bart Stupak Abortion Drama was just that...drama. It was staged to make it appear that part of the democrat party was thinking of what’s right. He was going to cave from the beginning because democrats are democrats first and everything else second. There’s no such thing as moderate democrat anymore.

ZERO's promissed Executive Order to get Stupak's vote is unlawful because anything added to this vote changes the Senate bill. Therefore, ALL of today's House votes would be INVALIDATED.
