WaPo's Klein Insists ObamaCare Abortion Debate 'About Class and Not About Abortion'
NewsBusters ^ | March 21, 2010 | Jeff Poor

The Washington Post's Ezra Klein has some doubts about those who oppose abortion on moral, religious or ethical grounds. Apparently to him, it's just an anti-class issue in which the poor are locked out of abortion.

Klein appeared on MSNBC's March 21 special coverage of the House's debate about health care reform which was prelude to the body's final vote on the legislation. According to Klein, despite the language in this bill with so-called "family planning" provisions and its questions about a presidential executive order restricting them, abortions will actually go down with ObamaCare.

You can't oppose abortion on religious grounds -- you're just playing the class card...

If it were about class, the rich would be encouraging the poor to get abortions. This guy is an idiot.

Klein is just repeating the meme that was pushed in the book Freakanomics that the population of Hispanics and Blacks needs to be controlled in order to keep crime rates at a certain level.

This is very popular with pundits like Klein... for some reason. Sounds racist to me.

Ezra Klein thinks smearing feces on the wall is not about sanitation and sanity, it is about interior decorating.

What a stupid bastard.

If we didn’t like blacks so much, we’d be begging for all of them to have abortions.

Everything is about race with these folks. They don’t give a monkey’s azz about the USA. All they care about is their own race. They absolutely hate whites.

Mr. Klein’s argument is absurd. Abortion services aren’t very expensive- at least now. I’m sure the price will go up dramatically once third party payment from Uncle Sucker is the norm.

I’ve got an idea Klein would just love:

Why don’t we offer the poor free sterilization. In fact, he’d probably like forcing sterilization on the poor. Why trouble them with being responsible for children?

But seriously, let me take this argument to a place Klein doesn’t seem to know: love. For people like Klein, that apparently know nothing of love, it is impossible for them to understand how anyone could LOVE God’s creation so much that destroying the beautiful life in the womb is one of the most horrifying acts imaginable.

Klein may believe religion is an act of social conformity. But for millions of us, our faith is rooted in love- and hating evil. Both of which are clearly foreign to Klein.

I wonder if Ezra Klein know about Margaret Sanger and the origins of abortion on demand.

Let me get this straight, according to him, I don’t like non white people therefore to express my dislike I’m going to deny them abortion. Wow that’s showing them.

Ezra Klein (born May 9, 1984) is a blogger for the Washington Post and a columnist for Newsweek. He was formerly an associate editor for The American Prospect political magazine and an American liberal political blogger at the same publication.

Klein worked on Howard Dean's primary campaign in Vermont in 2003, and interned for the Washington Monthly in Washington, D.C. in 2004.

According to Malkin, "A good-faith debate would require that Respectable Liberal Blogger Ezra Klein actually be a person of good faith. He is treated as such in some elite conservative circles, where his work is linked frequently and intellectual repartee among the Beltway boys’ club is warm and chummy", yet she preferred "an overflowing vat of liquid radioactive waste" to sharing a stage with him.

According to Paul Krugman, he is "very, very good, and very, very young", because when Klein interviewed him at a restaurant, "he got carded". (Klein was 23.) Slate has said that he is a "liberal darling".

Klein was raised Jewish and now identifies as agnostic.

In December 2009, Klein wrote an article in the Washington Post that because Senator Joe Lieberman was motivated to oppose health care legislation in part out of resentment at liberals for being defeated in the 2006 Connecticut Democratic Primary, it meant that Lieberman was "willing to cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in order to settle an old electoral score".

Two years ago, he (Ezra Klein) made his Twitter feed private after the blog Wonkette posted a tweet where he called NBC’s Tim Russert a ’spiky acid-tipped d*ck.’ ‘That tweet haunts me,’ says Klein, who explains he was repeating an overheard comment and expected it to go to only a few friends. ‘

To the fascists, it’s all about ethnicity. To the marxists, it’s all about “class”.
