To the leaders of the Republican Party,
I think it's essential that we Republicans develop a simple, coherent, and easy-to-articulate national platform to channel the massive rage awakened by the Obamunists. We must not lose the opportunity for effecting positive, permanent change that this rage can bring about. We must give this rage a positive focus, namely a goal to permanently take back our country from the radical left.
I'm not talking about simply repealing Obamacare. The repeal issue is necessary but not sufficient. I'm talking about permanent, visionary change. Namely, I think the national Republicans should develop a small number of constitutional amendments and run on effecting those amendments as our national platform. Nothing short of such amendments will stop the so-called progressives from ultimately destroying our great nation. Any other platform we may develop will just be same-ol, same-ol, go along to get along. We need to generate passion for permanent, positive visionary change, and not just continue with anemic reactionary plans and policies.
I sense a broad and deep need for change that’s been awakened by the radical left, and I believe the stage is set for an outpouring of support of such permanent change. I also believe a set of constitutional amendments would be an ideal vehicle for unifying and energizing conservatives through out our great nation and a way to meld the passion of the Tea Party folks into a powerful and effective force.
We need to reign in the power of the federal government and force additional accountability onto our so-called representatives. I propose the following amendments for consideration for the new Republican platform.
1. An amendment specifying a method for recall of U.S. House Representatives and Senators by their constituents.
2. An amendment prohibiting Federal legislation that exempts or provides special treatment for Representatives, Senators, and their employees, with retroactive application to all existing laws.
3. A national balanced-budget amendment prohibiting the Federal government from spending more money annually than the amount of tax receipts for that year, except during times of emergency as declared by the President and ratified by 2/3 of the total House seats and 2/3 Senatorial seats, such emergency not to exceed 12 months without re-declaration and re-ratification.
Certainly, many other amendments come to mind, but it would be critical to keep the number small and limited to those amendments that would attract broad popular support.
Obviously a snappy name and logo would go along with this new vision, something hard to refute and hard to make fun of. Something like “Changing America for Good!”
Also, note that such constitutional amendments would provide a platform for all state legislative and executive races, as state legislatures play a critical part in such constitutional amendments. Thus we Republicans could have a coherent, national platform that meshes perfectly with state races.
It’s time for the Republicans to quit playing defense, and put the so-called “progressives” on defense for a change. Remember, “The best defense is a good offense”.

Simply repealling the 17th admendent would go a long way to solving the problem in the Senate.

IMO we should think about a Constitutional Convention as soon as possible. We have around 38 states ready to chanllenge Obama Care in Court. That’s not good enough and unlikely to succeed.
With A CC we can act right NOW. We don’t have to wait for any election results or years for this to work it’s way through the legal system.
Amend the Constitution to put the Feds back on the leash.
I would not worry about health care specifically.
To strip the feds of power simply repeal or rewrite the interstate commerce clause. This would revert a huge amount of power back to the states.
and or. An amendment that forbids the federal government from being involved in any entitiy that can exist in the private sector with the sole exception of the military. No more fannie and freaddie, fed reserve, public shool funding, medicare, medicaid, social security, the list go’s on and on. While this may seem extreme, it needs to happen.

I hate that word CHANGE also. I think it would be a real loser for the GOP. Too many of us associate it with what just happened. The GOP needs to use something like: RETURNING THE COUNTRY TO GREATNESS AND FREEDOM. OR, VOTE FOR A FREE AMERICA. OR, RETURN TO FREEDOM.
What does it take to organize a Constitutional Convention? Who has to do it? Can the people do one?

That was part of the trouble.
Is there a way to limit what the states will consider at this Constitutional Convention? I recall the equal right amendment for women was such a process that was limited to one issue and didn’t reopen the whole shebang.
I would put clarifying the interstate commerce act as number one. (Limiting it to making regular the systems of commerce among the several states.)
Number two would be a balanced budget amendment.
Number three would be something to the effect that a treaty cannot expand the Constitutional authority of the federal government beyond its enumerated powers to the regulation of natural resource use, including uses affecting climate, air and water.
Number three would be that all states in the union shall have equal footing in regards to taking ownership of the public lands within their boundaries that existed upon statehood.
Number four would be that regulation must have a legitimate relationship to the prevention of substantial injury to general public health, safety and morals - and that regulation should not be used to burden private property with an obligation to serve the public benefit, public trust or to reallocate private property ownership to another party.
This is one of the provisions to amend the Constitution. 2/3 of state legislatures call the convention. It’s never been done before but then again what happened last night in our Congress has never been done before. We already have around 2/3’s of the states ready to challenge this bill. Now may be the time to bring the power back to the states and the people.
