Barack Hussein Obama and Indonesia: there's no place like home
Daily Mail ^ | MARCH 22, 2010 | Mary Ellen Synon

Posted on 03/23/2010 3:27:03 AM PDT by RobinMasters

Now that President Obama has done enough back-room deals to get the Democrats' health care legislation through the House of Representatives, he can resume making plans for a visit to his childhood home, Indonesia. The trip was on for this week, but the White House cancelled it so Obama could stay in Washington to push through the Bill.

Once he lands at Jakarta, capital of the world's largest Muslim state, he probably won't make the same mistake he made a few years ago in Kenya, when he let himself be photographed wearing a turban. Still, he may find it hard to resist the urge to go native.

One of the reasons a lot of Americans find Obama oddly foreign is that he had an oddly foreign childhood: his formative years were spent in Indonesia. His half-sister, Maya Soetoro Ng, was born there. The rest of Obama's childhood was spent in Honolulu, a Pacific Ocean capital soaked in East Asian culture.

What's this got to do with Britain, or indeed with Europe? Plenty. Obama is the first US president who was raised without cultural or emotional or intellectual ties to either Britain or Europe. The British and the Europeans have been so enchanted with 'America's first black president' that they haven't been able to see what he really is: America's first Third World president.

If you doubt it, remember the kick in the teeth he gave Britain over the Falklands just a few weeks ago. Obama had his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, fly to Buenos Aires to give American support to President Kirchner's call for international negotiations over the Falklands. Amazing. What was more amazing is that all we've heard out of Number 10 and the Foreign Office since then is that it doesn't mean anything.

Obama has no emotional, cultural, or intellectual ties to the US, either. (We’ve yet to see his grades or birth certificate.)

Will he be visiting his birthplace while in Indonesia?

He could bring his prayer mat and use it five times a day plus do a daily trip to the local mosque and the media wouldn’t cover it.

I’m sure the great muzzy’s Secret Service detail is looking forward to this trip. It’s not like
the goat roping mahamamadman sickos won’t blow up their own kind along with themselves
for show and tell at their prayer festivities.

I’m hoping the feely-touchy voters here are finally admitting to themselves that they messed up
and plan to fix their mistakes in the the next voting days.

This IS the same guy who wanted the Crucifix covered when he spoke at Georgetown? Not much tolerance or respect but towards Mecca.

Wonder if there is anything in the Muslim culture the way he grasps his leg below the knee when he removes his shoe. Is this the way they are taught to remove a shoe before entering a mosque.

I believe it offends mohamed if one hold his knee while removing shoe. The punishment is death by stoning.
Let ´s hope and pray a mad mullah will believe me and order a fatwa on obama.

PS. the spelling of mohamed and obama without CAPITAL LETTER is Intentional.

Interesting point - although it does make for yet another silly photo of him. This is a great article - he is indeed a foreigner to America, Britain and European culture. What a mixed up kid his mother raised!

They seem to remove their shoes any way they want.

BTW, It’s possible to get around the requirement to remove ones shoes when entering a mosque at times.

When Pope Benedict visited the King Hussein Mosque in Amman, his hosts laid on an extra strip of carpet thru the mosque so the entire entourage cold keep their shoes on.

I’ve yet to read any liberal comment on Obama’s returning of the Churchill bust. Not one word. Why in the world would a president of the U.S. do such a thing? Unless, fo course, that president has a deep-seated hatred for Churchill and the country he was the prime-minister of.

I understand that there is a play about Obama's Indonesian boyhood which will debut during his visit there in about 3 weeks.

Any of you noticed any foreign press coverage about this up & coming event?

Please pardon my error - it is not a play, it is a film entitled, LITTLE OBAMA.

Here's a short article about it, along with a pic of the lead actor:
