Peter Schiff Campaign E-mail: The Government Has Crossed the Line (Health Care)
Campaign E-mail | March 22, 2010 | Peter Schiff

Posted on 03/23/2010 9:19:08 AM PDT by BaBaStooey

Hello Everybody,

Sunday, March 21, 2010, will go down in the history books as the day democracy died in America.

Since Barack Obama took office last winter, the administration, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have edged America closer to the brink of socialism with their bailouts of the banking and automobile industries, mind-blowing spending and appointment of czars to micro-manage America.

But yesterday, with the House passage of the Senate health care bill, the federal government officially crossed the line. The far left has socialized nearly one-fifth of the American economy and forced our health care under government control.

Liberals insist that Obamacare is the solution to every Americans' problems, rich or poor. But Washington has failed to correct the fundamental flaws of our medical system. Without addressing the root cause of health care's growing price tag, costs will continue to skyrocket, and consumers will be forced to dig further into their pocketbooks.

And that, my friend, is why I'm running for the United States Senate. No one in Congress - the Senate or the House - understands economics the way I do. And I can promise you, as Senator I will do everything and anything in my power to curb government spending and prevent further damage to the free market system that has brought America prosperity for so many generations.

But I need your support to get to Washington. Will you follow this link and make a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more to my campaign?

I foretold the economic collapse of 2008, and few heeded my warning. I hope for your sake and my own that our leaders listen this time. Obamacare will not solve the problems inherent in the American health care system and will only add to our economic troubles.

Socialism wasn't successful when the Soviet Union tried it; China had to open its markets to free trade to become economically viable; North Korea depends on foreign aid to feed its citizens. Why does Barack Obama think he can make socialism work in the United States of America?

Socializing medical insurance won't minimize costs, and health care's increasing financial weight will come to rest on the shoulders of each taxpayer for generations to come. I don't have to tell you that Americans cannot afford that! We need to cut taxes, not raise them. And we need to stop spending. The national debt is dangerously high and the only way to reduce it is to stop letting the federal government use your tax dollars to foot the bill.

Send me to Washington, and I will get our fiscal house in order. I will teach Congress the basic economic principles they need to know to govern responsibly, and I will make sure that your tax dollars are being spent responsibly. I'll also make sure that the government does not impinge on any more of your private freedoms. No more government-run anything, no more higher taxes and no more reckless spending.

So can I count on you to follow this link and give as generously as you are able to my campaign today?

Peter Schiff Republican US Senate Candidate

P.S. History has proved time and again that a socialized economy only leads to disaster, yet Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have forced government-run health care onto America, at the tax-payers' expense. It's time to tell Washington enough is enough. Send me to the Senate and let me get our fiscal house in order. Please follow this link to make a contribution to my campaign today.

Definitely a good guy to have in the Senate, but will have a very tough campaign — is he the only Republican running for this seat ?

It’s an effin’ Republic, Pete. The whole Demos thing is what’s causing the problems we have today.

"Sunday, March 21, 2010, will go down in the history books as the day democracy died in America."

More specifically, the day the Republic died.

Article IV, Section 4 - Republican government

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

The time for political solutions has passed. The next battlefield will be the courts. I really hope the battle is won there because the battlefield after that is, well, a real battlefield.

I will say this, though. The Republicans remained pure in this. Not a single republican voted for this. That is significant. Maybe there IS a difference in the parties.

we have a government that believes they can do whatever they want and hasn’t a clue nor a concern about what the constitution is. The real problem, however, is that 50% of the citizens couldn’t care less.

Peter has it backwards, that day will go down as the day "democracy" triumphed! That is if you correctly interpret "democracy" as really "oclochracy", i.e. mob-rule, dictatorship of the majority. As one of the founders, John Adams, put it:

“Democracy has never been and never can be so desirable as aristocracy or monarchy, but while it lasts, is more bloody than either. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself."

fightinJag, I do not believe in coincidences, especially ones on this scale. Our dear leader has promised that he would wait five days before signing a bill. NOt that I have any reason to believe him, but how convenient is this date?

“we have a government that believes they can do whatever they want....”

There’s a reason that Obama’s motto is YES WE CAN.

Closer to the

BRINK

of socialism?

Gimme a break.

We’ve been well over the line for a long time.

This is merely a huge leap deeper toward hell.

This is exactly what happens when Americans believe our government is a “democracy.” I am glad the so called “democracy” died with Obamacare! Now we can work to get our Constitutional “REPUBLIC” back!!!!

Throughout all of history, all DEMOCRACIES have ended in bloodshed!!!

You are right. However, only about 33% of the colonists cared about fighting King George.

Why is some Demon-rat leading the polls to be Dodd’s replacement? Schiff ought to go on the attack, ripping the jerk a new one.

"There was a time, of course, when American democracy emphasized the rights and freedoms of individuals against the state. But by the late twentieth century, those days were far in the past. American democracy -- at the time the Berlin Wall fell -- had come to correspond more to the European conception of the term, in which the will of the individual was subordinated to the interests of the group as determined by elections. Majorities had come to take on the mantle of king, with even more sacred rights. The king at least owed his post to God -- and usually feared his master. But whom did majorities fear? Majorities could do no wrong, for there was no higher authority. They owed their positions to no one -- except the crowd."

--William Bonner and Addison Wiggin, Financial Reckoning Day: Fallout (10th Anniversary Edition), p. 157

------------------

I didn't have a real grasp of politics until I studied both history and economics. I had studied history but not economics. I had certain ideas about economics which made sense to me, but I didn't know they had a name, or a school of thought, until I discovered the school of thought.

People in this country will be much better off if they read works of Natural Law which inspired the authors of our country's founding documents, as well as like-minded works by more recent authors. They will also be better off if they study the Austrian school of economics. I used to pretty much roll with the mob and its rule, thinking that my ideas about economics were quaint and unrealistic, and shared by no one else, until I was turned on to the writings of followers of this school of thought.

We need to reverse the changes made to this country which promote mob rule. The founders saw firsthand how rule by the mob wrecked France. They put specific items in place to stop this mob rule, and in the early 20th century many of these were altered by progressivism, which is just monarchy/tyranny/positive law/collectivism/mob rule/democracy by another name. A thing that has to keep reinventing itself over and over again because people eventually figure out how awful it is and try to get rid of it in favor of liberty/natural law.

Republic - right! In fact the word democracy and democratic (even the prefix demo) appear exactly NOWHERE in the Constitution. While the word Republican does appear twice.

Excellent points.

However, I don’t think there’s much time to reverse anything . . . except in individual lives and families and maybe some neighborhoods and small towns.

GOD ALONE IS OUR REFUGE.

HE WANTS IT THAT WAY.

He’s highlighting that even the BEST FORM of government and economics the world has known will still end up in mass death and suffering

APART FROM HIM.

We ought to still do whatever He tells us to do in behalf of country etc. but truly . . . ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR GOD WILL LAST.
