The group, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, claims it will close its affiliates and field offices by April 1st. But some of its critics think the move is really an April fool's switch. They claim ACORN actually isn't going anywhere, just rebranding under different local organizations with new names but with the same mission. ACORN has faced a variety of allegations over the past two years, from voter registration fraud to Republican charges that it uses public funds for liberal political purposes. ACORN workers have gone to jail, and undercover tapes of ACORN workers seemingly giving advice on how to skirt the law especially made the group a lightning rod for criticism.
...Critics point to a variety of new local organizations that are springing up to apparently take ACORN's place. In Brooklyn, New York the ACORN office now has a new sign: "New York Communities for Change," and in Massachusetts the president of the new group, "New England United for Justice" is listed as Maude Hurd, the president of ACORN, in its articles of Organization.
There are a growing number of such local groups replacing ACORN, according to Matthew Vadum, of the Capital Research Center. He says ACORN Housing has changed its name to Affordable Housing Centers of America, Inc., and that other ACORN connected groups include: Arkansas Community Organizations, Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment, and Missourians Organizing for Reform Empowerment.
"This is a trick, a public relations trick," says Vadum, calling the move an attempt "to dupe Congress and the American people to think they have gone away and they have not." He says "the same people are running the new chapters that have sprung up and in some cases, out of the same offices."

The Chicago office for the community activist group, known as ACORN, seems to have disappeared. In its place; a company called "Affordable Housing Centers of America", located in the same office, with apparently many of the same employees, according to a woman sitting behind a desk there. The new name might be part of an overall rebranding of the embattled organization, which says it is disbanding.
In San Antonio, WOAI news reported that ACORN had closed it’s offices, and where it used to be the American Centers for Affordable Housing is now located.
I wrote them, even with the link to ACHOA’s website, that they are ACORN..Of course, they ignored me.
I would love to have the republicans put an amendment forward that would prohibit acorn or any derivative from receiving any health care related funding.....another vote we can bring up in November......
(ACORN new name) Is Just Lipstick On The ACORN Pig

So when Obama restored ACORN funding (Mar.17th I think, healthcare payoff) where does that money go?
Obama needs them for November election. Funded with tax dollars.
Facebook, twitter.....just start posting it everywhere....even Bumper stickers!!!!
ACORN...now....American Centers for Affordable Housing!
Let me ask you something? Why does it matter....if you cant answer that question....then find out why...before you start...posting or bringing it up.....
What I am saying is people want answers....like Why are you opposed to Obama care? Why do you thing it is a Socialist reform? If you cant answern those questions....find the answer....What is the difference between Socialist and Marxist? Your kids want to know....Why is Obama a Socialist...doesnt he just care about the Poor? What will you say....I am not say this to you....but to all who are fighting for Conservative values....
Here is a website....i ran into it yesterday because I got in a discussion with my oldest daughter....then I went to the Family research council website....both are good....
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THESE SITES//// (i have nothing to do with the promotion of either)
I will bet that some will move from ACORN to IRS’s new 15K-16.5K hires.
“This is a trick”
“Obama will never you let go back to the way you were before he is POTUS.” paraphrasing M.O.
Saw this coming a mile away.
Photos and videos are needed from any remaining Acorn offices, to compare with staff a few months from now. Of course they’ll be the same thugs, under a different name!
I’m glad you posted and didn’t mean to direct my comment at you. I just meant it in a general sort of way :) Sorry I came off as rude!
