CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- The arrest of an outspoken government opponent for his critical remarks on a TV talk show drew condemnation on Tuesday from opposition parties and human rights activists who said the case shows freedoms are being eroded in Venezuela.
Opposition politician Oswaldo Alvarez Paz was detained by police on Monday and has been charged with conspiracy, spreading false information and publicly inciting violation.
A coalition of more than a dozen anti-Chavez parties said in a statement that Alvarez Paz was arrested for a "crime of opinion" in an attempt to silence criticism and encourage a climate of self-censorship.

Looks like two demons meeting in Hell. Obama never met an anti-American dictator he didn’t like.
Before the next three years have passed this stuff will be in America as well. We have a tyrant in the WH, a man who has no fear of recrimination from the citizens of this country. Barak Hussein Obama is a master of manipulation who has surrounded himself with others like him. He sees this nation as ripe for takeover, and I believe he'll find a way to get re-elected. In fact I believe his plan is already in place. It will have to do with votes from illegals, with redistricting, with aid from the media, with turning American against American, and with veiled threats of bringing major civil unrest from 'minorities' if he doesn't have his way. It has to do with massive bribes and from instilling fear into people. Obama is intentionally bringing this nation to the brink of economic collapse with plans he knows cannot work. He is playing on human emotions like Adolf Hitler did. He is bringing us to the brink of civil war by creating hatred and divisions which we have not seen since the Civil War. And he will claim that he himself has the answers to all these problems. And many will believe him. The Democrats have successfully painted GW Bush as the evil one who brought destruction to America, and liberals as the ones who can fix it. So no matter what happens to Obama's economic plans he, the Left and the media will continue claiming that it's all Bush's fault.
If anyone still doubts the embedded hatred this man has in his heart for whites, conservatives and for traditional America he will soon be convinced by Obama himself.
