OTTAWA — Concerns for "public safety" forced the cancellation of American conservative commentator Ann Coulter's speaking engagement at the University of Ottawa Tuesday night.
Several hundred people, including students from both Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, showed up prior to Coulter's speech. The loudest and most vociferous were protesting her presence, drowning out a smaller group of pro-Coulter demonstrators.
Ottawa police had more than nine squad cars at the scene, at the university's Marion Hall. But the event was cancelled about 8:15 p.m. — before Coulter had a chance to speak.
"It's a public safety issue," said Sgt. Dan Beauchamp.

A display of (Christian) religious symbols being desecrated? Entitled to public funding, with no violence.
An anti-Semitic speech based on lies against Israel? Free speech, part of the public discourse.
Anything that offends Obama’s far left socialist buddies or Islamic radicals? Must be canceled because of fears of violence.

As for their other addictions, a nanny state sure helps when they are so stoned out they can't work. When a society gets so ignorant they cannot allow a civil discourse in a public forum, you can kiss their liberty away. Canada should be absolutely ashamed about this turn of events.
It is a closed event, and the "racist, homophobic, bible toting, gun loving people of Western Pennsylvania" according to Obama and Murtha, will do nothing to try to prevent this pampered rich kid punk commie from speaking at Pitt, albeit many of the current students and alumni are outraged that a hunk of scum like him would even be invited to speak at their University.
Say what you want about her, but as far as I know, Ann Coulter has never once planted IEDs intended to kill people.
Maybe Canada should get their head's straight and not allow themselves to be pushed around by violent radical political minorities who deny free speech to anyone who disagrees with them. In the old days, those street thugs were called Brown Shirts. I guess now, they are Che Shirts.
