IRS will police health care

TYLER - The Internal Revenue Service will be the government's chief enforcer for health care reform. They'll be responsible for watching both business and individuals to make sure they have the insurance coverage the government requires. But the questions is, will the IRS really be able to enforce this?
According to the new bill, the purpose of the mandates is to regulate economic and financial decisions about how and when health care is paid for, and when health insurance is bought. But many worry if the IRS is up for the challenge.
In 2014, every person and most businesses will be required to certify on their tax returns if they have bought the level of insurance they're required to have. If not, then that person or business will have to pay a separate tax to the IRS. For individuals it could be up to $750 a person or $2,250 a household. And for a business, $750 per uncovered employee.
To make this work, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the IRS will need $10 billion in additional funds, funds which were not made available under the health reform bill.
**SNIP**
Some believe this will be tough to enforce because of how complicated the bill is.
"They're going to have to beer the branch up in order to enforce it," Peter Milne of Healy, Milne & Associates. "It will actually be cheaper to pay the fines than it will be to pay the premiums."

The more complicated it is the easier the gestapo can operate. Want to bet they will be issued guns etc. Wouldn't doubt brown shirts.
Let's hope they are as inept as the rest of gov't bureaucracies.
“Want to bet they will be issued guns etc”
Um, there was a thread awhile back talking about the large order of short-barreled shotguns that the IRS got. The Dept. of Education got a bunch too!. (WTH???)
Well, smart beat devious most of the time, we will have to see where this goes.
If it goes as most gooberment programs, it will just be another DMV, USPS, etc program... yes, they will catch violators, but their main purpose will be to keep their useless jobs, and that is not a great motivator for normal people, so all they will have as enforcers are the leftovers.
which will leave everything open to personal interpretation. Just like IRS rules now.
One agent can see a matter quite differently from another.
Docs and hospitals will also be sharing all medical records now with the government “to ensure best practices”. I imagine that information will also be used to ensure compliance with the proper insurance purchases.
I have no income and do not file tax returns.
So how would this effect me?
Something tells me I fall between the cracks.
But for employers, they'll have to let some people go, in either case.
Just Pray that long before this all sets in - the bill is rescinded and but a memory.
and there's always the possibility that someone will drop the dime on obyummer’s past - and everything and anything he signed will than become null and void...along with him.
We are all getting there Doll!!!

“Frank, we’re going to need some more shotguns!”
Do you have a bank account?
Retirement fund? They can enforce it through that.
>Let’s hope they are as inept as the rest of gov’t bureaucracies.
You mean there actually exists one efficient gubmint’ department?
So disgusted with these non progressive antics! At the same time I am not surprised. Truly we have seen nothing yet as this administration brings on the CHANGE through the Obama-Alinsky Principles using any means possible. Look for more hidden deals buying followers and punishing those who choose to stick to their values and principles. The power sucking regime will keep moving and engulfing in amoeba like fashion. CHANGE is coming through the IRS hiring 16,500 Obama butt-boys to carry out new strategies to get more revenue from tax collecting and fines. Will the IRS begin interfering in businesses and citizens involving internet trade bringing punitive fines for not charging tax? Could this change the internet as we know it? They will bribe tax fine shut down anything that stands in the way especially if it is for gov. profit.
I quit licking envelopes ever since I heard the tale of someone licking an envelope and getting a cockroach egg embedded in their tongue and then a cochroach hatched out. :-)
Just about all my accounts are empty, and those Las Vegas trips are just taking a toll on me.
One radio report this afternoon said that the Obamacare bill contained no new funding for the IRS and the 16,500 new agents it will apparently require. Might be a little cost there not included in the CBO scoring.
Something to watch as more is learned about what is and isn’t included in the bill.
