Huge crowds expected for McCain-Palin event
The East Valley Tribune, Phoenix, Ariz. ^ | 2010-03-23 | Mike Sakal

Posted on 03/23/2010 8:12:27 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Campaign staff and volunteers of Sen. John McCain and his former vice presidential running mate Sarah Palin are preparing for the pair’s appearance at Mesa’s Dobson High School on Saturday.

A spokesman for the camp offered a bit of advice for those wanting to get in: “Folks should get there early,” said Brian Rogers, McCain’s communications director. The event is free, on a first-come, first-served basis and does not require a ticket.

(snip)

Also speaking at a rally in Tucson on Friday, the appearances are McCain and Palin’s first ones together at a public event since their concession speech in the 2008 presidential race.

Their appearance comes just four days after President Barack Obama signed a $938 billion health care reform bill. McCain has been an outspoken critic of the bill and plans to lead an effort to repeal it.

Palin, the former governor of Alaska, is stumping for McCain. She will speak about McCain’s values and what she learned from him during their 2008 presidential campaign and through his battles against his own party line, Rogers said.

McCain will speak about what he appreciates in Palin’s leadership, and speak out against what he believes are misguided priorities in the White House including government overspending, his concerns for the 17 percent unemployment rate in Arizona and the state’s home foreclosure problem as 48 percent of homeowners in Arizona are under water, according to Rogers.

I see the school boy pushing his Neo Leftist Ron Paul is in his Peter Pan mode.

The school boy doesn’t like Conservative Republicans such as Sarah Palin but supports his Neo Leftist, 9/11 Truther
Ron Paul and his loons, Alex Jones and Lew Rockwell
not to mention Jack Hunter the bitter little queen.

I remember every Presidential election night going back to President Kenndy.

Oh want a night when Reagan was elected, how proud it was to be American. Then Reagan was re-elected by such a great landslide.

I was just as happy when we thought “W” won” in 2000. Fox called it around 1:30 pm I think. I hated Al Gore. I remember doing a jig with my mother (in her seventies), which she hadn’t done ever before. We then started to freak out when they pulled the call back. Well the dems didn’t get to steal it. Then 2004 was such a great night beating the corpseman John Kerry and Bush was the first President in over 100 years not to lose any seat in the house and senate!

But on November 6th, 2012, when I hear “Ladies and Gentleman, President Elect Sarah Palin” !!!!!! WOW. Oh what A Night!! It will be the Happiest I have ever been on a election night!

May I remind you that Bush teamed up with Senator Chappaquiddick for the bloated “No Child Left Behind”, and he teamed up with the REPUBLICAN CONGRESS (!!!) to commit the expansion of Medicare in the prescription drug bill — a bill that DENNY HASTERT (R) introduced!

We had 6 years... SIX YEARS... of FULL Republican President/Congress control under Bush. SIX YEARS. And the government ballooned like never before!

So PLEASE don’t try to tell me that the problem is on the Democrats alone.

RINOs are a threat to America and to our party.

If you don’t think so you are merely kidding yourself.

Pay attention to history.

In other words, Sarah’s popularity COULD throw the election to McCain.

Yup. Crist is just a hard core RINO who loves Obama and other Democrats. McCain is the same thing but McCain sabotages the GOP and conservatives. McCain sabotaged us AND AMERICA with McCain Feingold.

The seniors in AZ can blame McCain’s good friend Obama for pretty much destroying their healthcare and their future. They may finally connect the dots because ObamaCarte is gonna hit them and baby boomers like a freight train.

We got a Demo Congress 2006/2008 and Obama 2008 thanks to McCain-Feingold. Anyone who thinks that is wrong can just review the rage the Dems went through when SCOTUS gutted it.

You’re deluding yourself about DeMint. He got in early enough and lobbied the whole SC delegation and state house on romney’s behalf.

He attached his cart to the political horse of Mitt. Has he decoupled or expressed not supporting Romney now? NO.

He should though because ObamaCare will kill Romney’s chance at a nomination due to MittCare...it will be THE issue for midterms and 2012.

This is where all of my anger towards Palin comes from.

It is clear that in an otherwise close race, Palin’s celebrity and popularity could very well cause Hayworth to lose. If Hayworth loses by one or 2 points, Palin will be the SOLE REASON, and only a moron would think differently.

I pose the hypothetical question, "what would FReepers be saying, specifically Sarah-supporters, if she were working this hard to re-elect (for example) Lindsey Graham, Orrin Hatch, Arlen Specter (had he not switched to the 'Rats), etc?

I submit that the reaction would be one of universal outrage, but because she was McStain's VP choice, she gets a pass.

Expediency carries the day.

McCain has spent 3 million(mostly radio) in the past 3 months.

McCain was 22 points ahead 3 months ago.

McCain now has a 76 or 8 point lead.

Hayworth has 200,000+

Hayworth has spent next to nothing

Sarah would be wise to heed the expression "we are judged by the company we keep". This isn't good.

It's going to get interesting when Obama launches his CIR, invokes the name of John McCain and continually uses it for his Bipartisan Kumbaya moment.

"Huge" turnout? How big is the venue at Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona?

Student population is 2,200 (news) - 2,800 (wiki) students, Obama made a speech there last year, and for that visit, "Between 300 and 400 tickets will be available to the public for free on a first-come, first-serve basis." This news article amounts to a push poll.

Well, correct, but additional. McCain did it from the left, and Sarah from the right. McCain did it from the top down, child of an admiral marrying a beer heiress and buying his seat, and as you say Sarah did it from the bottom up.

I like Sarah very much, and still do, but I think her support for McCain has hurt her a bit.

My general observation, is that after her announcement of McCain, her thread hits have taken a little bit of a beating. While I appreciate your defense of her, don’t you think it’s a bit sophomoric to describe those who hold this observation as: “trolls, Paultards and Sarah bashers just flock to thread like this.”

Like many here, I really do like Sarah, but her support for the RINO McCain has really left a bad tast in my mouth.

By-the-way, would’nt a troll (Democrat) be pushing the virtues of McCain on us?
