Another Perspective

Beware the Emboldened Left

By Marc Rotterman on 3.24.10 @ 6:08AM

As I write, Congress has just passed Barack Obama's signature issue -- healthcare reform. After a year of stops and starts, imposed deadlines and rancorous debate, President Obama and his allies have prevailed. He does, in fact, have a victory. And where I come from, a victory is a victory.

Many of my Republican and conservative brethren view this partisan piece of legislation as a stake through the heart of the Left and some are already measuring for new drapes in the Speaker's office.

In fact, in some quarters of the Republican Party "irrational exuberance" has taken hold. Barack Obama’s presidency is being compared that of Jimmy Carter. That, in my view, is a mistake.

Conservatives and Republicans who underestimate President Obama do so at their own electoral peril. Unlike Jimmy Carter, Obama is a true believer, someone who understands that transforming policy translates into votes and a citizenry that is more reliant on the federal government. And unlike Carter, Obama is a streetwise, tough politician who will not give an inch when it to comes to his vision of a "New America" -- one that is modeled after European socialism.

Starting now, the Obama administration will try to position him as a modern day LBJ -- getting things done for the middle class and the poor. The administration, and its allies in the mainstream media will echo Obama's belief that he is transformative figure and that healthcare legislation is akin to the historic Civil Rights Act of the 1960s.

And make no mistake about it -- Barack Obama's next agenda item is "immigration reform" which, unless it is defeated, will further broaden the Left's constituency, strengthen the unions, and undermine the rule of law. By the

Unfortunately, Rotterman is on target with this one.

Conservatives must go for the jugular. Our representatives, and I'm not referring to RINO's, usually play with kid gloves.

Well, the gloves must come off. Use cannons.

Hands down the worst President the USA ever had. A fitting comparison.

IF there were an unlimited supply of money that had some value, then, yes, the author might have a problem. However, the appetitite of the slothful baggage in this country demand a much higher premium nowdays. There simply is not that much wealth left in this country anymore, period.

There is also the fact that if they offer more of their “Let’s go to Hell slower” approach, they will not make many or any gains in November.

But, LBJ’s moves in that direction proved to be a complete boondogle. Who would want to be compared to LBJ?

I got this in an email from a friend...

An idea whose time has come

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise..

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.”

Lets hope the GOP has finally wised up about this issue and has ceased looking at 20 million illegal aliens as a 'natural republican constituency'.

It always was a myopic, moronic fantasy.

Alot of us are saying the same things except less eloquently.

If the RINOS think they`re going to sweep into power this November they are in for a BIG surprise. I do not see the RINO party wining 38 to 45 seats to take majority control of the House. The left and unions, even now, are pouring MILLIONS into re-election coffers of democrats who did what they were told to.

The Totalitarian left now see an open field and have all the momentum. The dominant left-wing media will cheer them on relentlessly.

We are living in a historical time when the last vestiges of the Republic are stripped down and replaced with a Socialist Chavez style State.

It is my understanding you have yet to ask Attorney General Richard Blumenthal

He's not President since he has not complied with the natural born citizen clause in Article 2 Section 1 of the Constitution.

If it were not for the support of senate and congress ( not even unanimous) he would be another Jimmy Carter. Once the congress and senate is replaced, we will see how effective he is, How well he deals with criticism, How the media holds up after an upset of enormous proportion. Don’t forget, we had no horse in this healthcare race, the real fight was only amongst the democrats. Obviously we (the people) and the republican party had no real influence in the outcome of this legistlation (not for lack of trying) and were merely demonised and berated for even trying. This will not be the case after 2010. They can lie to themselves all they want, they can pat themselves on the back, they can throw their heads back and laugh, but this is still a free country and I honestly believe that it is the American People who WILL have the last laugh.

Is this really any better than being compared to Carter? Johnson was a one-term disaster, and didn't even run for re-election. This may well be Obama's fate, as well. The problem with these one-term Dems is that they do a lot of damage to the country in a short amount of time. The GOP needs to be about reversing this damage 24/7 going forward, which likely means we need a new generation of willing reps that will not be cowed by the lunatic Left.

This administration and the Democrat party as a whole are only going to become more dangerous now that they know the margins are dwindling (Scott Brown election, etc.) and their time may be running out. With the press on their side they will proceed on to amnesty, card check, cap and trade, with furor. By 2012, 20,000,000 million newly minted voters will be looking to the Democrat party for their piece of the pie.

The card that trumps all for November is the economy. If it gets worse, Dims will fall by the dozens. If it gets better, we are in trouble.
