LOS ANGELES (AP) - Robert Culp, the versatile actor who teamed with Bill Cosby in the groundbreaking comedy-adventure TV series "I Spy," has died. He was 79.
The actor's agent Hillard Elkins says Culp died after collapsing Wednesday on a sidewalk outside his Hollywood home. Los Angeles police say he hit his head while on a walk and was pronounced dead after arriving at a hospital.
A preliminary investigation found that his death is accidental.

Culp was the best part of an otherwise forgettable series called Greatest American Hero, too.
I loved his attitude.

They don’t make them like Culp today. He will be missed. I wonder how many younger people even know of I Spy?

My kids loved that show, and I thought it was good for kids, so we ended up watching and he saved it for me. Culp was a real character...RIP.

I never heard a bad thing about the man.
I enjoyed him in everything, including Greatest American Hero.
He played a great, no-nonsense law enforcement-type guy.
May he rest in peace and may his family and friends be comforted.

I never could get a grip on him...something always turned me off about him, but I came to believe it was just that he played sleazy characters so well.
I'm sure he had some bad performances, I just can't remember any. He was always good.

As an actor he deserves better than to be simply known as the white half of a "groundbreaking" TV show from the 60s.

Demon with a Glass Hand is one of those unforgettable pieces of science fiction. Harlan Ellison wrote it with Robert Culp in mind.
The action takes place in the Bradbury building, which is where they filmed the final scenes to Blade Runner.

Quintessential Freeper material. I would've loved to hear him rant about his bleeding heart liberal partner and all the commie pinkos he fought. LOL.

I would've loved to hear him rant about his bleeding heart liberal partner and all the commie pinkos he fought. That was a role Culp was playing; he made his living as an actor, didn't he?
In real life, Robert Culp was right at home among the liberals in Hollywood because {shudder!} he was one.
Just one of the "causes" Robert Culp lent his talents to furthering: The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's 2005 Gala in Washington, DC. Take note of the names of other speakers and sponsors -- and the MC for the event was another famous actor we've all learned to hate, Alec Baldwin.
More on the Physicians Committee for Responsible (?) Medicine.
Ted Nugent will probably have something to say about this.
