Senate Republicans have backed away from a plan to offer hundreds of amendments to slow the passage of healthcare reform fixes under budget reconciliation.
This means the Senate will finish work on House-demanded changes to healthcare reform law sooner than expected.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had hoped to finish the process by Friday or Saturday but now Thursday afternoon appears a possible end-point.

In any other age, I might see this as some type of cunning strategy by the GOP. But nowadays, I just see this as plain old jelly-spinedness.
Mmm... I’d say that today’s “amendibustering” got plenty of embarrassing Kodak moments out of the Rats. Maybe the next step depends on the reconciliation. I believe only one reconciliation is allowed per budget cycle so the Rats will have blown theirs for this one.

It’s better this way. The US is a dying patient, and it is better to have a quick ending rather than a slow, drawn-out, lingering failure.
I find it curious that so many in previous generations have been willing to bleed and give their lives to preserve America’s freedom, only to have the current charlatans in power in Washington give it all away without so much as a whimper.
All of those brave American heroes at rest on so many foreign and domestic battlefields must be rolling over in their graves.
