Minute Man organization disbanding !! Carmen Mercer, president of the MinuteMen sent the following email out this morning...........
Please read this message with important information pertaining the March muster 2010 Az.
I AM RE-SENDING MY MESSAGE FROM MONDAY, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. The so-called elites, you know the ones who criticized us for not showing respect to our government in Washington have managed to trample the Constitution, completely against the will of the people they have passed Obamacare.
Don't think the millions of people who nationwide, marched against this criminal act, just as the Minutemen marched on the border and in cities across the country to bring awareness to a most serious issue. Some people thought it made a difference, others did not. We know we had an effect and the credit goes to all our courageous and disciplined volunteers who have always behaved like Americans should.
Only now the mood of the country has changed.
I'm afraid that for many citizens, the passing of health care against the will of the people and now indications that Obama will try to pass amnesty may be the straw that will break the spirit, or may be the straw that ignites frustration that we, as an organization, may not be able to manage or contain.
Recently I sent out an email announcing a renewed call to ACTION to the border just as Chris Simcox did way back in October, 2002.
The replies to my e mail were dramatic and has shown me that people are fed up. Thousands opened the e mail, hundreds replied and are ready. The response was dramatic in two ways; some people were absolutely against our new SOP that I encouraged Chris to write for us. He was reluctant but pitched in to help support my plans.
For others the response was overwhelmingly positive, in fact we had far more people respond than in a long time. But it was obvious that many had decided to return to the border who had tired of the sometimes futile watch and observe methods. It showed me that people are not willing to be silenced anymore; it also showed me that people will be less likely to follow the rules of engagement in a desperate attempt to stop the criminals who violate our borders every day.
That is not what we want and we cannot take the reponsibility for this.
This has brought me to the conclusion that the anger may not be directed by every individual against their government; I realize people have HAD IT! We have a responsibility to protect our volunteers, our corporation and the land owners who have been so supportive of our efforts, even under great risk of liability if we ever made a mistake. We cannot and will not jeopardize all the years of positive activism we have shown over the last 8 years. We will also not jeopardize the gracious help we have received from the ranchers who have supported us in the last 8 years.
So with this email I announce that as MCDC, we will no longer hold the March border muster in Az. 2010
Future musters will be announced soon.
We have come to the conclusion to dissolve the National corporation. There is not need for a national corporation anymore, many of our chapters have incorporated themselves in the last year to be independent and that is good.
I tried to encourage Chris to return and manage the operation but he is committed to supporting JD Hayworth's campaign for the U.S. Senate. I have a business to run and cannot be there enough to oversee the operation. Without a leader and a full time staff of sector chiefs to supervise, I cannot take the liability and will not put the landowners in that position.
This organization has grown too big for its own good; or rather, the problem has grown too big and serious for us to manage. I predict soon the violence will spill over the border (it already is) and I predict Americans, on their own, will lock, load and do what the feckless cowards in Washington refuse to do - We don't advocate violance in any way, let us face it, the revolution has to take place in this election by voting shameless elites out of office and putting good candidates in their place. But it is up to us to present these candidates.
Our internal chapters who have incorporated have all the tools and and have done an outstanding job and will keep going. On the border and in the legislature. Simply put, we have taught thousands of people what they should do; now it is up to them to do it. We are all Minutemen now but we are no longer on the border as MCDC, that corporation will no longer exist, except in the history books. Through the individual chapter incorporating you can teach the volunteer right on sight what they need to know and many of them have done this in the last year. You have to register in your state and fundraise on your own as well.
It is up to each individual now, you will do what you personally feel is right. You may still go to the border but you are either on your own or you can try to find another group to associate with - you do so at your own risk. I hope you continue as independent Minutemen, you are needed; we are needed to save this country.
For those who are awaiting your I.D. cards I will still at my own expense make sure you all receive your cards, at least as mementos of our efforts. The equipment and resources still belong to the corporation and must be collected and accounted for.
I will then sell off the assets to pay off our remaining expenses.
It has been an amazing experience and I remain humbled and honored by your dedication and service. I am sure Chris Simcox does too.
He may be disappointed that we as the board have made this decision, but I have always respected his choices and he has always supported mine. I was there with Chris from the beginning so we both deserve the respect and credit for getting us this far. We are both tremendously honored by those who served. History is again in our hands; your hands; you know what to do - the rest is up to you.
In God we trust, and may God give strength to the American people to fight for the survival of this great Republic.

I do see the need for “decentralization”.
The Minutemen wanted to forcefully detain suspected border crossers this time around, which would have been criminal under Arizona law. I have a feeling this is their way of walking away from that gracefully.
Wow, sounds to me like he feels that there will now be violence on the border when dealing with illegals and he doesn’t want to have the minuteman organization be linked to that. I don’t blame him, but I think it’s a sign of the times that he’s probably right.
I pray nothing happens that would bring discredit to such a worthy cause as protecting our borders.
whoops, this was from Carmen Mercer. Replace all of my “he” with a “she” in my last post.
I get the feeling they anticipate a scenario where citzens take matters into their own hands, and the MM leadership does not want to be blamed for what is out of their control now, and to come
Check the link in reply #5 - they were promoting actually detaining people, which under AZ law would have been potentially criminal - to effect a ciizens’s arrest, you have to have witnessed a felony or have solid reason to believe the person had just committed a felony - and most illegal crossings are not felonies, which would make the detentions illegal arrests. Methinks someone gave them sound legal advice and they are backing away from doing that by simply not going.
I also have a feeling that Hayworth’s campaign reached out to Simcox and told him they don’t want the Minutemen escalating their methods during the election, which could have given McPain propaganda material against the border control/anti-shamnesty advocates.
Is there a McCain influence attached to this decision? It sounds like there is some frustration that Simcox is actively supporting JD Hayworth. Simcox withdrew from the race to support JD. I get the feeling that Carmen doesn't agree with it.
Not “already posted”, but this thread has a follow through to Gordon Liddy’s interview w/ Al Garza about the collapse. Very revealing.
Decentralization is how the commies do their dirty work: Small “cells” with no visible connection to any others. Smart for the MM to employ their methods and disband — at least officially — and let folks operate on the individual or “cell” level.
The most effective and efficient way for a renegade state to destroy a movement is to gather all the members into one umbrella group, acquire the membership lists — then start the round-ups that are probably coming.
I’d caution Oath Keepers and others to be mindful of that.
If the trouble starts — and it’s looking more likely every day — it will be a guerrilla action. Given the current composition of the American body politic, a new revolution would almost certainly NOT end as beneficially for freedom as the first one.
Having said that, we’d all be better off to find and support CANDIDATES FOR NATIONAL OFFICE AND DEFEAT THESE DEMONRAT PIGS WITH THE BALLOT BOX, NOT THE CARTRIDGE BOX.
Please DO NOT misunderstand my reasons for producing these two videos. If folks want to gather together to let them know that we, like Howard Beal in Network are mad as hell and not going to take it any more , its STILL for the time being anyway a relatively free country so we can do that.
All Im saying here is that, especially in tough economic times, there are more EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE ways to expend our FINITE RESOURCES.
Its not as much fun as sweating on the Mall but there IS a better and less costly — way to scare hell out of them — and you won’t even have to leave home.
ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL, PART 1: (UNDER 8 MINUTES)
ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL, PART 2: (UNDER 8 MINUTES)
Pulling an ACORN on the left? Pretend to disband, then reassemble under other names?
It is more difficult to infiltrate, detect, and demonize small groups. That’s why Al Queda uses small cells. There is also less bureaucracy and fewer legal requirements to register as a political organization. The Tea Party Movement is more effective, I believe, as smaller groups.
I hope this is the reason and it’s not a pay-off.
