CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- A pit bull mix in Tennessee has been sentenced to obedience training after his dogged attack on a local police car.
Winston didn't bite anybody, but he mauled a Chattanooga police car in what might have been a confused attempt to take a bite out of crime. The persistent pooch managed to tear off a section of the front bumper and damage the tires.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a judge ruled that Winston had been a very bad dog. He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous."
Charges against his owner will be dismissed if the classes are completed successfully

|Bulldog mauls police car; Taser fails to stop it
Associated Press ^ | March 15, 2010 at 6:44 a.m.
CHATTANOOGA What happened to a Chattanooga police officers car was certainly under the radar. A city police spokeswoman said Sunday that Officer Clayton Holmes had been checking traffic speeds with radar and stopped to fill out a report when he felt his car shaking. He found a bulldog chewing on the tires. After the dog attacked two passing cars and a second police car, officers used pepper spray and a Taser on it, but the animal wasnt deterred. By the time McCamey Animal Center staffers captured that dog and two others, it had chewed two tires and the entire...
May I sugggest a Korean cooking class???
I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
Well, Im glad everything worked out for Winston. It would have been a shame to put that dog down for what he did.
You are good.
any idea which breed kills more folks versus which attacks more police cars?
I saw the dog easily ripping the car apart. GM???
Thanks, I try... :)
Yeah. Seems like Chet is telling us that everyday
Winston tastes good?..............
I don’t know if they keep stats on police car attacks, but they’re gonna have to start.
Well, I have to admit, I've never seen a dog rip a cop car to pieces like that... I'd say this one wasn't rare, it was one of a kind!
Scary to watch that clip, but funny as hell nonetheless...
I’m not a pit bull fan, but I’ll bet the dog does better than some people who are ordered to attend classes.
Car Cam of attack with two other dogs joining in on the fun!
Dogs often chase cars but rarely catch one.
Dogs attacking vehicles are rare.
Most police cars are Ford Vics.
Calling Cesar Millan!
Yeah. And too bad that the two legged dogs don't have to wear a sign: "potentially dangerous."
He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous."
They would be smarter to require him to be put on a strenous excercise program.
lol...i actually had a big bull gator attack our old pickup in rural Wilcox Alabama one night...damaged hell out of it.
he was meandering down a red clay road from slough to slough and did not like us pestering him with the truck
Everyone LOVES radar traps, too.
While I wasn’t there, I have a theory on why the dog did what it did: It saw a vehicle parked where no-one else ever parks, and took it upon himself to encourage the stranger/threat to leave. Dogs do stuff like that, it’s why we have them in the first place. Companion critters came long after the guard dog.
Maybe next time a BEAR attacks someone, a Judge will send the bear to obedience school.
I’m thankful that the dog was not put down. MAYBE that tire had run over some drugs or some marijuana and the dog was just trying to tell the police that he’d be a good candidate to be a Drug Dog or a Border Guard Dog.
That’s possible, tho I do detect a bit of the “guilty look” in that pic.
We had a husky mix who just couldn’t resist chewing, til she was too toothless old TO chew...and anytime she nailed something and knew she shouldn’t have, she’d have that same head down, eyes up “you’re gonna be soooo mad when you find it” look.
