After the Senate passed a "fix-it" bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an "income shift" to help the poor.

As Democrats tout the moral underpinnings of the federal health care system overhaul -- ensuring health care coverage for nearly all Americans -- one senator appeared to go off message when he said the legislation would address the "mal-distribution of income in America."

After the Senate passed a "fix-it" bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an "income shift" to help the poor.

These insane Democrats are nothing but a reflection of the electorate; full of brilliant, really-really smart, self-appointed-intellectual, independents.

Thank you independents. Keep being insane. It looks like you’re all going to massage your egos and send everyone else to your brilliant, really-really smart, socialist paradise.

IMHO

Senator_Blutarski: “The current tax code is designed to punish success and reward failure. Is that what we really want?”

I think we’re trying to make the same point, but I’m not doing a good job of it. A person can have a lot of income and be poor. A wealthy person can be amazingly rich and have very little income. The assets you own, your net worth, is wealth.

The system most definitely penalizes wealth creation. Like you wrote, it’s very difficult to make enough income to pay for both day-to-day living expenses and build wealth. The harder you work, the bigger bite they take. If you invest, you have to beat inflation as well as capital gains taxes in order to create wealth.

You are right. The progressive income tax penalizes hard work and wealth creation. Personally, I think progressive taxation should be declared unconstitutional, and everyone should be required to pay the same percent.

squarebarb: “It’s really the redistribution of poverty. Plus, a great deal of that wealth always sticks to the fingers of the redistributors.”

Yes, funny that, eh? I like the point about the redistributors. So true!

More and more of the fraud called “Health Care” is coming out. Every now and then, the RATS let their true intentions be known. I hope the good folks of Montana send this RAT POS packing the first opportunity they get.

I hereby am starting a new religion. It will be called
“The Church of the Healing All Manner of Sickness and Every Infirmity”-
Here our religion expressly forbids use of any government funds for staying healthy based upon Matthew 4, 23-25; 6, 25, Proverbs 4,22:
“And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom: and healing all manner of sickness and every infirmity, among the people. 24 And his fame went throughout all Syria, and they presented to him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and such as were possessed by devils, and lunatics, and those that had the palsy, and he cured them” —

Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” —

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” —

“My son, hearken to my words, and incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your eyes, keep them in the midst of your heart: 22 For they are life to those that find them, and health to all flesh.”

Where do I file?

Thanks for posting this. What current generations may not know is that this kind of "redistribution" was tried and failed in America before!

If the American citizenry is awakened to the kinds of facts discusssed above, and if they will go back and review the philosophy of the Framers of the U. S. Constitution, they may perhaps begin to understand how America became the symbol of liberty, opportunity and prosperity for millions throughout the world. The following essay, is reprinted with permission.

The Miracle of America

from

axes and hoes to high technology;

log cabins to air-conditioned condos;

horsedrawn wagons to autos, planes, and rockets;

scarcity to abundance; &

from tyrannical government rule  to individual liberty

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

Most of our history books don’t tell us that, in the beginning, the pilgrims established a communal economic system.  Each was to produce according to his ability and contribute his production to a common storehouse from which each was to draw according to his need.

   The assurance that they would be fed from the common store, regardless of their contribution to it, had a peculiarly disabling effect on the colonists.  Taking property away from some and giving it to others bred discontent and retarded employment.  Human nature was the same then as now, and before long, there were more consumers than there were producers, and the pilgrims were near starvation.  Governor Bradford, his advisors, and the colonists agreed that in order to increase their crops, each family would be allowed to do as it pleased with whatever it produced.  In other words, a free market system was established.  In Governor Bradford’s own words:

                “This had very good success; for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corne was planted than other waise would have bene by any means ye Governor or any other could use, and saved him a great deall of trouble, and gave farr better contente.  The women now wente willingly into ye field, and tooke their little-ons with them to set corne, which before would aledg weaknes, and inabilitie; whom to have compelled would have bene though great tiranie and oppression. . . . By this time harvest was come, and instead of famine, now God gave them plenty, and the face of things was changed. . . . and some of ye abler sort and more industrious had to spare, and sell to others, so as any generall wante or famine hath not been amongst them since this day . . . .” (Wm. Bradford, “Of Plimoth Plantation,” original manuscript, Wright & Potter, Boston, 1901)

   Those who, today, favor central government planning, common ownership and redistribution of the earnings of others are advocating a system that Americans tried and rejected over 350 years ago.  Their wisdom gave birth to the great American miracle!

The Left-wing hate mongers used to try to slam Barry Goldwater for being a Senator “for the rich.” The truth of the matter is that the Goldwater family has, and still does, donate millions to charity.

Yep, and the upcoming “amnesty” will more than put them over the top. If we are aghast at the way they trampled the Constitution to push DeathCare on us against the consent of the governed, we “ain’t seen nothin’ yet”. Their success in ramming it through has only emboldened them, the repercussions for their tyranny are small potatoes to them in this their best chance ever to enact wholesale socialism on this country. DeathCare was practically a “test case” in seeing just how much they can get away with without paying a real price or being stopped in their tracks-even if the Republicans were to gain a majority in the mid-terms, that will just give Hussein two years to pin every lie he and the complicit media can come up with on them, before he’s up for re-election and the rats have a chance to re-take the majority and put the frosting on this communist crap cake. The writing is on the wall.

......Wages have not kept up with increased income of the highest income ....

The poor have not worked hard enough. They are failing to take care to work hard enough to provide the abundance others deserve.

He who does not work, neither shall he eat.

You're right. In spite of my belief that the trainwreck is inevitable, I will never stay home and not vote for the "lesser of two evils" and just let it happen with my complicity.

an "income shift" to help the poor.

In a free and rational society with a just limited government, the feelings of Max Baucus,and his ilk, and the needs of others are not justification for the initiation of force against the innocent and the violation of natural rights of the people.

What we really have going on in this country is a MAL-DISTRIBUTION of EFFORT.

I'm stealing that for my new tagline.
