My family saves up styrofoam all year for our big front yard bonfire.
And all the cars and trucks are all fuled up to idle in the drive way, with the lights and am radio on high.
O and we usually run the self cleaning feature on the Magic Chef

And If you have have time to drag your Christmas lights into the backyard and fire them up, so much the better still.
I don’t need a higher electic bill but I did cut down 14 trees to make room for my new Depression garden today. Does that count?
I have reduced my electricity bill sunbtanstially by doing things like having my TV/DVD, etc on a power cord that I turn off when not using (and I watch little TV anyway.) I unplug the toaster and other appliances when not in use.
That said, I do such things to bring my bill down for MY benefit, not to 'save the planet.'
Tonight, I will grit my teeth and light my house up like a Christmas tree for TWO hours.
Besides, this may be the last year we have any choice. The Socialists have the Super Grid ready to go...from which they can control our thermostat! And they can ration - and will, if we don't get rid of them, your electricity usage as well.
And they want to get gas up to $7 a gallon - to curtail our movements.
If I know of any conservative who doesn't vote in Nov, I shall - literally - cut all ties with them. I shall consider them cowards and traitors who would aid and abet the enemies of our freedoms and consider I no longer had anything to converse with them about. (And I am stocking up on regular light bulbs because I like to see - and thos 'screw you mercury bombs' give an unfriendly light. so I will be the little ole lady, shades drawn, burning contraband bulbs. Don't tell anyone.)
Be glad you don’t live next to me...our tree lights stay on the tree year round (when you have to pay a guy with a bucket truck to prune the tree and apply the lights, you leave them up) and they WILL be all on tonight. I’m only sorry that they are LED.
Perhaps we can even get President Obama in on the act. He can fly in Air Force One halfway around the country to campaign for legislation that has already been passed! Heck, even if he doesn’t do it durind Earth Hour, he will do it many times in the forseeable future. He can waste more energy in one day than most of us combined can waste in an entire month.

My dining room lights are on and I have candles on in every window. I still have to turn on my lights in the parlor, and maybe my hallway lights along with the bathroom and bedroom lights.

well now that it’s over I have heard reports that those who lead this lights out night saw no difference and felt it was a failure.
I am thinking all those who lit there houses that night actually overcame any homes who were co-operating! Ha! So to them it was no body was co-operating. ahahahaha
