House of Commons - No special relationship between Britain and US

Snips: Talk of a "special relationship" between Britain and the United States should be dropped, a House of Commons committee said Sunday, adding the Iraq war carried important lessons for Anglo-US ties. The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee said Britain should be "more willing to say no" to the United States and warned that London will probably not be able to influence Washington as much in future.

It also noted that President Barack Obama's administration was taking a "more pragmatic tone" towards Britain than had been the case for some previous US administrations.

"special relationship" -- was "potentially misleading, and we recommend that its use should be avoided".

Someone should mention to that ass that the UK was potentially German.

Barry just needs to give an ipod of his speeches to Parliament and a set of Region 1 DVDs. That will get us back on track.

“It also noted that President Barack Obama’s administration was taking a “more pragmatic tone” towards Britain than had been the case for some previous US administrations.”

They still love, love, love Obama. They attribute him as “pragmatic.”

Anyway, sounds like the Euro-philes talking.

"House of Commons - No special relationship between Britain and US "

Another Foreign Relations masterpiece by the messiah...at this pace, pretty soon the only friends the US will have will be Russia and Iran.

Can’t really blame the brits considering the way Dumb’O keeps kicking them in the teeth.

Too bad Israel can’t cozy up to another world power (Russia, China, India) and then tell Obama to go screw himself.

They've already told Obama to screw himself. The problem is who to cozy up to.

Now that’s priceless. Apparently, they are still charmed by the holey one. Just wait till he tosses them aside as he has done with Israel and eventually all of our friends and allies.

This is a sad state of affairs. What strikes me is how fast our traditional allies are deserting us now that Zero is in charge. It’s as if they have been waiting for decades to put the screw to the Americans and Obama has finally delivered their ability to do so without guilt or remorse. Obama’s arrogance, narcissism and hidden hatred of this country have delivered the ‘get out free cards’ and now we are truly isolated and alone in this world. And to top it all off,the enemies of our country...the ones that Obama courts with the enthusiasm of a smitten teenage girl, mock his efforts with destain.

Obama’s next plan to humiliate our country is sending our brave and cherished troops to march in Russia’s ‘Day Of Victory’ parade.

We are living in a nightmare!

Pragmatic: No embarassing fundie overtones or imperialistic warmongering, and he pays due diligence to the Islamic sensitivities.

You should be careful when reading stuff from the Brits. It could just as well be a finely tuned piece of sarcasm.

Where are the american jews? They used to be Israel’s last best friend. Why aren’t they taking Obama’s treatment of Bibi as a slap on their faces??

It is absolutely pathetic that any american jew, hell, that any jew, still supports obama.

Tell that to those in Hollywood and all along the East Coast from NY to Florida. They are enamored of the man who supports Palestine and won't even pose for a photo with an Israeli (shaking head and thinking of what my mom used to tell me years ago "they should have known better").

First of all, Russia sacrificed more to ‘save our ass’ fighting for a common interest against the Germans, secondly, Britain paid a price for American help, with usurious interest, even if that wasn’t the case, Britain does not owe America perpetual gratitude for being an ally in WWII, any more than America owes France, Spain and Holland any for helping ensure that your country came into being in the first place.
Besides, can you really blame British legislators for taking this attitude when Britain has sent troops to Iraq and Afghanistan and this current president craps all over our faces whilst bowing to foreign tyrants and despots who are predisposed to anti-american hostility?
Instead of attacking this British attitude, perhaps you should hang your head in shame for being a member of the nation responsible for electing the Obamination into the White House in the first place?

Get a hold of yourself, Mr. Bean. You might notice this site is not exactly the Obammy Fan Club, nor does it support minimalization of US/UK ties by Galloway wannabees. Nobody's happy that the foreign-born Muslim communist in the White House has anti-Anglo proclivities and is hell-bent on disenfranchising our longstanding allies. The MP in question was simply playing into O's strategy of dividing his perceived enemies. We don't want your perpetual gratitude, but we don't want to see the Kenyan idiot's plan to sow contempt between our two nations come to fruition either.

Don't blame the US conservative opposition, which screamed bloody murder from the start, for this temporary mess. You might notice that with the Alinsky tactics combined with an adoring worldwide media (including the BBC), the Progressives in this country could have elected a ham sandwich. That would have been a preferable choice.

BTW, you might want to get away from the WWII revisionism regarding Russia's "sacrifice".

There is no revisionism about Russia’s ‘sacrifice’. The Red Army inflicted about 70-80% of all the Wermacht’s casualties and suffered for their part over a third of all of the war’s total casualties which added up to the loss of about 15% of their entire pre-1939 population. I don’t have an axe to grind on behalf of the Soviet Union, they weren’t fighting for us, they were fighting for themselves, just like every other nation. But the facts are the facts.

That aside, I agree with most of the rest what you say...
