Can Jeb run for governor again in Fla?

The Governor of FL is ‘term limited’ to two terms.

“The 75% is cover voting for the rubes back home. It is votes on bills that are already decided.”

I’m just making the point that these Senators tend to TOTALLY BLIND to how the future Senators (they support) will vote, as they support people like Crist (and Lincoln Chaffee...unreal), who appears to be even to the left of Snowe...yet those same Senators simply don’t vote that way.

If it makes you guys feel better, you can run around calling everyone a RINO who doesn’t get a 100% rating from the ACU - but there is NO WAY IN HELL that Alito, Roberts, and Thomas would be on the Court if it wasn’t for those 90% of the party that you call “RINOs”. You may not consider these votes like these important, but I sure do...and some
of those votes were very close.
So go vote 3rd party, if it somehow clears your conscience, and let your kids and grandkids try to clean up the mess that you’re leaving, by empowering even more Democrats.

I thought Christ was doing a poor vamp impression. . . the flaring Pelosi eyes, the pouty lips. What a riot. I have never seen him before and wonder how Floridians have stood him all this while. [shiver]

He came across as a bad joke - constantly attacking Rubio instead of answering Wallace’s questions. I thought Chris managed him pretty well.

Typical, just freakin' typical. Can't argue the point so just make up another one. Mole, troll or whatever you are. The message is clear. We won't ever buy into national party game plans again and will strive to make all politcs local. We are the term limiters, not them.

I saw the debate on Fox News Sunday. I was astounded to see Crist say on national television that he would have voted with Collins, Snowe, and Specter on the stimulus package. I can't believe anyone running in a Republican primary would say that!

Rubio was impressive. I don't live in Florida. If I did, I'd certainly vote for him.

Marco Rubio did a great job in the debate on Fox News Sunday this morning (and Crist gave me the creeps as usual), but I have one question for Florida FReepers (and other FReepers who may know):

WTH is going on with some Florida Tea Party groups who aren't warming up to Marco Rubio??? Specifically, WHAT is going on with those people in The Villages??

Are there "turf wars" or something going on with the Tea Party groups in Florida, and they've lost sight of The Big Picture?!

Rubio is our next shining star candidate.

Truly, we should be propping him up for a run for the White House. He is light years ahead of his kind.

I have also heard him speak. Incredibly intelligent and logical as well as a dynamic communicator. His running mate should also be Erik Cantor.

If we let this one slip by and ignore him over the likes of the current list of tarnished candidates, we deserve what we are going to get in 2012.

And Crist aligned himself with McCain and Lindsey Grahmnesty as well. What's odd is that Mitch McConnell has endorsed Crist. Geesh, what are you thinking, Mr. Senate Minority Leader??

What I want to know is what's going on with some of the Florida Tea Party groups who apparently "aren't satisfied" that Marco Rubio is the best candidate. WTH??? Sounds like a bunch of stupid turf wars going on, or some people in FL are trying to turn their Tea Party groups into some "official" party or organization. Not good, if so... The Tea Partiers are supposed to be an "unorganized" group of grassroots patriots.

Rubio impressed me. He had facts and wanted to discuss issues. It brought to mind the Ryan v Obama exchange.

Same here... Rubio is by far the better candidate. What I hope to hear from Florida FReepers (I pinged some above) is WHY some Tea Party groups - specifically in the all-important "Villages" community - in Florida apparently "aren't satisfied" yet that Rubio is the best candidate. WHAT the heck is up with that??

The Villages are infested with yankee liberals. It’s a retirement community and most of the residents come from outside the state. What’s so hard to understand. He is liked immensely by the Tea Party groups in this state but as with all groups, some biases die hard. The Crist campaign was big early to float the idea that Marco was for Amnesty only because of his heritage and still tries to beat that drum.

Marco’s parents fled Castro and worked hard to give their children a future. His dad retired as a bartender and his mother at all sorts of service jobs like a hotel maid. Hard work, self reliance, you know the kind of things conservatives are really against (sarc).

White Cuban, but still "hispanic" per the US census. He is paler than me, and the mostly brown Mexican-American and Puerto Rican populations wouldn't accept him as one of them anyway (why should they?).

Marco has a strong future ahead of him if he performs well as governor. Happy to see that he is destroying teabaggee Charlie.

LOL! Oh come on, Clemenza, 50,000 or so "Villagers" can't all be idiots! ;-)

There are already stupid turf battles going on with some Tea Party groups in this country, and I'm just wondering if something is going on behind the scenes here. I suspect there are a few (hopefully ONLY a few) self-important "King Rat" types running some "chapters" of these Tea Parties, and they're not doing our side any favors...

The grassroots Tea Party movement shouldn't be "organized" and divided into "chapters" in the first place, IMO.

Thanks for your reply. I assumed there are a lot of yankee liberals infesting The Villages, as in all of Florida. I thought most of the residents of The Villages were right-leaning, though, hence the HUGE positive reaction there for Sarah during campaign 2008. I hope you're correct in that some of these "biased" Tea Partiers in FL will get their act together and rally around Rubio for the GOP primary.

The Crist campaign was big early to float the idea that Marco was for Amnesty only because of his heritage and still tries to beat that drum.

Wow... I wasn't aware of that. Crist is the epitome of the word SLIMY.

Marco’s parents fled Castro and worked hard to give their children a future. His dad retired as a bartender and his mother at all sorts of service jobs like a hotel maid. Hard work, self reliance, you know the kind of things conservatives are really against (sarc).

Yes, Marco and his family have quite a story! I learned about his background while at CPAC last month. Rubio is a most impressive candidate, IMO.

I hope all this "financial scandal" around Rubio that Crist was trying to gin up is a nothingburger, as Karl Rove likes to say... ;-)

What has gone on is a bunch of Republican insiders have hijacked the grassroots movement and more or less have turned it into a fundraising scam. That isn't the case everywhere but there are cases where this is true.

Poor Charlie is just one of his lies.

And, excuse me. EVERYONE MUST KNOW THIS: Florida's legislature is only in session for a very brief time. When it's not in session, the legislators HAVE REAL JOBS. He was accusing MARCO RUBIO of having a real job. Isn't that a good thing? Crist wouldn't know what a real job is.

Crist started killing Terri Schiavo in 2003. So, that's been for me, gee, seven years. In a keynote speech with country clubbers, he stated that the two judges who killed Terri were "heroes of his."

McCain is old. Crist looks old but young enough to cause significant damage and the OLD GUARD republicans are for Crist (handful). The new dynamos of the party like Ryan are for Rubio.

Crist had no policy positions. (replaying now). He talks up a populist storm just like Obama. Crist always was a HAS BEEN. Oh, Rubio "fixed his mini-van". Here's the TRUTH: Rubio had a CAR ACCIDENT IN A PARKING LOT at a political event. So, he got his car fixed and paid it back as soon as his insurance claim paid him back. Crist knows the national audience doesn't know this. Crist is counting on donations from the whole county and even foreign donations.

How can a car accident caused by another driver be a valid accusation? It's not!

Nutmeg, Crist tried to paint Rubio as in lobbyists' pockets. Rubio is permitted to have employment when he's not in session. Crist is a big distorter and everything's been handed to him.

Rubio had a REAL JOB not on govt dole like Crist. Rubio made $300,00 in atty fees. Well, that right there proves he's even a BETTER LAWYER than Crist who had no clients except possibly his dad, Dr. Crist. (I'm originally from St. Pete. I know too much lol).

He got married - to a woman - right before he was elected governor (or soon after), right?

Governor Crist became engaged to wealthy NY socialite Carole Rome in July 2008, when Crist thought he would be McCain's running mate for the 2008 presidential election.

Crist and Rome married in December 2008. A few short months later, Crist decided a U.S. Senate run would be a nice consolation prize for his failed VP aspirations. Fortunately, Florida conservatives have other plans for our representation, along with canning the FL GOP director Jim Greer.
