Israel fears Obama heading for imposed Mideast settlement
haaretz ^

U.S. President Barack Obama's demands during his meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last Tuesday point to an intention to impose a permanent settlement on Israel and the Palestinians in less than two years, political sources in Jerusalem say.

Israeli officials view the demands that Obama made at the White House as the tip of the iceberg under which lies a dramatic change in U.S. policy toward Israel.

Of 10 demands posed by Obama, four deal with Jerusalem: opening a Palestinian commercial interests office in East Jerusalem, an end to the razing of structures in Palestinian neighborhoods in the capital, stopping construction in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem, and not building the neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo.

But another key demand - to discuss the dispute's core issues during the indirect talks that are planned - is perceived in Jerusalem as problematic because it implies that direct negotiations would be bypassed. This would set up a framework through which the Americans would be able to impose a final settlement.

It is not just Obama's demands that are perceived as problematic, but also the new modus operandi of American diplomacy. The fact that the White House and State Department have been in contact with Israel's European allies, first and foremost Germany, is seen as part of an effort to isolate Israel and put enormous political pressure on it.

Because you know who signs the peace treaty and starts the ticking of the seven year clock

And we'll be watching from the Mezzanine...

But in Daniel, he follows “a raiser of taxes.” Who would that be? Bush actually lowered taxes.

America’s precipitous withdrawal from Lebanon 20 years ago, fleeing from known Syrian/Iranian-sponsored terrorists instead of pursuing them, encouraged the terrorism rampant today worldwide.

That's an interesting rebuke of the Reagan Administration. What's you opinion about this?

Perhaps Obama could offer Israel a 7 year peace treaty in exchange for Israel being allowed to rebuild the temple. Then, Obama could just break the treaty after 3 1/2 years, occupy the temple himself, and declare himself to be God?

Zechariah 12:1-3 details what happens to those who burden themselves against Jerusalem

Romans and the Babylonians got away with it though, not to mention Saladin, so the odds are understandable..

Wouildn't the Rapture of the Church have to occur before this happens?

The are concentrated in NYC, Albany and lower NY state and by themselves vote in enough numbers to tip the state of NY reliably into the blue column year after year. They exist in large numbers in New Jersey and Connecticut. Take out the Jewish vote in NY state and NY would more likely go red.
If the Jewish vote in New Jersey and Connecticut went conservative these states would likely go Republican. Its all about the electoral college.

The Babylonians didn’t get away with it, God used them for the direct enslavement of the Jewish people for 70 years as was foretold. The Babylonians after Nebuchadnezzar had their kingdom divided between the Medes and Persians.

And as for the Romans, they ended up divided in two parts with the western part sort of dissolving away into dark ages and then medieval Europe while the Eastern part stood until the last vestiges were subsumed by the Seljuk Turks in 1492.

It’s not Obama though he may be being used as preparatory political tool. Look for a Julius Caesar type, unearthly magnetic and intelligent with a knack for calling fire out of the sky and other sorts of strange magic tricks. I’ve read about some occultists in India showing these same sorts of magic tricks now!

He will have all the right sorts of answers. To a fractured American populace, both dissillusioned Libs and non spirit filled Conservatives, this guy will be the cats meow after years of infighting, to bring us all together. Crash economic programs will be enacted, our natural resourses will be utilized flat out, on almost a war footing emergency basis and any noisy enviros are done away with. The world, also damaged, might see what is going on and say hey...maybe this guy can help us out as well. Thus he will assume world command from among 10 world sector “kings”. Some person may try to kill him but he appears to be resurrected after a mortal wound.

If Christ tarries a bit and Christians have to go thru all or part of the fire, they will see thru this guy though they’ll have to wrestle with the barrage of self deceit demons will attempt to conjure up in believers. We will warn as best we can but won’t be believed for even Revelation says “he will wear away the Saints” almost like suppressing the voice of conscience to the world the same way men sear their own consciences thru sin.

Israel has nothing to fear....they need to simply tell Jack Squat Barry and his merry band of ME foreign policy goons to go straight to hell.

I have said it once, and I will say it again: Netanyahu needs to make a public statement stating that the nation of Israel will no longer have any relations with the US until this current administration is removed.

Obama does not need to be re-elected, there are mechanisms in place already for him to retain the role as commander and chief nearly indefinately. G.W. Bush created these with good intentions, but someone such as Obama could and probably would exploit them. We all watched them use reconciliation to push bills through, that those rules were never intented to be used for, I am certain that there will be other such rules and laws that will be abused in this administration.

Hmmm...good point with the Babylonians, but you’re drawing a long bow with the Romans. If their fate is what happens when god punishes you, then more empires would do well to occupy Israel - their longevity was admirable.

On a similar note, the Egyptians marched through and took tribute from Canaan occasionally, and their longevity is equally impressive. The consistent rule here seems to be that you may well endure longer than the average political grouping.

by that token of course, must we assume that the British empuire collapsed because they occupied Jerusalem?
