Who Is David Brian Stone, Leader Of The Hutaree Militia?
Christian Science Monitor via Yahoo News ^ | 30 Mar 2010 | Will Buchanan

Posted on 03/30/2010 6:05:14 AM PDT by edpc

Members called him "Captain Hutaree" or, somewhat cryptically, "RD." A federal indictment calls him the “principal leader” of the Hutaree militia – an extremist group federal authorities say was preparing to "levy war" against the US government by killing police officers.

He is David Brian Stone, and early media accounts sketch a portrait of a man pulled increasing toward the militia movement and its radical fringe. His ex-wife said she left him because he "got carried away." Federal authorities allege that he researched how to build roadside bombs on the Internet. And at least one neighbor said the group that Mr. Stone leads had acquired a certain notoriety around town.

"You don't mess with them," she told the Detroit News.

Hutaree militia arrests: Why the number of militias has tripled since 2008

Monday morning, federal authorities released an indictment against Stone and eight other members of the Hutaree militia. They allege that Stone and his followers were planning an attack sometime in April, perhaps killing an police officer then targeting the funeral with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to raise the death toll. The group saw the police as the arm of a US government, which they felt was the enemy. [Editor's note: IEDs were described incorrectly in the original version of this paragraph.]

Probably the FBI staff are reading all of our posts. I thought that the 2nd Amendment was about “militias” and our right to bear arms. Silly me. Personally, I think it is frightening when the government can arrest people for what they think they might be thinking. Big Brother is watching all of us.

There seems to be little difference between this group and Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dorne. (sp?)

Cop killers are cop killers.

Hutaree militia arrests: Why the number of militias has tripled since 2008 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Wed have a fascist movement which has taken over the country, That's why we have an expansion of militias.

No federal institution short of the armed forces can stand against the militias if they all rose at once.

Now Obama has to get rid of militias, He cannot. They are ensconced in state constitutions and the 2nd amendment. So in the alternative the left wants to define militias as "politically incorrect." That means we ALL need to join one.

I’m not going to say these might not be nutballs, but the odds of them finding ‘Christian’ terrorist types in a country FULL of an admitted Islamic third column is beyond suspicious.
Where was that map of known Islamic training camps in the states? Ah- but until they DO something, right? Well, planning seems to be enough of a crime here!
If the ‘government’ we currently suffer decides to apply the terms seditious and threatening to Americans who would stand against real terrorism , then it effectively negates opposition and clears the way. The right of the people to a militia and self-defense( another part of that annoying Constitution) is eliminated without the court and media.

This group MAY be truly anarchistic. I don’t want looney cop killer types who want to provoke things for their own agendas either- but- in these times, when ‘cops’ and authority could be used against the people who want to STOP socialist takeover-being willing and able to defy such corrupt authority would be necessary.
This smacks of using a little truth as a weapon and excuse to clear the way for much bigger evil.
With all the KNOWN, proud to preach hatred of freedom and our culture groups operating here, they have been investigating- and act against- this bunch? Given a field of targets that threaten, they spend time investigating and aim at a few snarling dogs instead of a pack of rabid pit-bulls? You’d think they’d get the biggest danger first.
Unless they approve of the pit-bulls.

Holstered? What did you mean by your “holstered” metaphor?

Do you have trigger locks on your guns, kept in a locked safe, and the ammunition in a different locked safe?

Is that your version of the second amendment?

Vote them out of office....as long as they allow you to vote.
A declaration of ‘special emergency’ would end that, ‘temporarily’ of course.

One man’s sound planning is another man’s evil conspiracy.

You can indict a ham sandwich for having no mustard, but convicting it of conspiring with the mayonnaise is another matter entirely...

Yes temporarily. About as long as it would take for cycling breech bolts with 30 million
simultaneous “snickety-snicks.”

Arresting people for what they’re thinking is nothing new. People have been charged with conspiracy to (fill in the blank) for years.

“Cop killers are cop killers.”

Show me one iota of anything that demonstrates that any of these people actually killed anyone, much less a cop, and you will have my support on that statement.

Let’s keep in mind that so far we have nothing except a set of indictments that use some very inflammatory language to try and support some very serious charges, and nothing more.

“Unless they approve of the pit-bulls.”

They ARE the pit bulls.

Actually, comparing this administration to pit bulls is an unfair slandering of pit bulls.

What evidence has been produced to prove there were solid plans to "kill police officers"? And at a "funeral"? Story doesn't add up to me, but you can be sure there was a Federal agent at the heart of it egging them on, as usual.

This whole thing seems weird to me. Unlike legit "terrorists", these guys had dozens of videos on YouTube.

Cop killers are cop killers.

Agreed. Before people get too upset about this, let's find out who these guys are. The enemy of my enemy isn't necessarily my friend. There are right-wing fringe groups who are very violent and cloak themselves with a "Christian" label. If we find that this group is one of those, then we should applaud the work of law enforcement to close it down.

Couldn’t agree more.

As with Ft. Hood murderer. For years he was promoted, laughed at and given every oportunity to plan and implement his Jihad against sworn military personnel.

But hey, it’s easier to go after a bunch of back wooders, than capture a “Lone” jihadie.

All the money that has been allocated to the LEOS and this is the best they can come up with. But then Janet Rino spent her time going after Americans while Muslims were traveling around the U.S. preparing for 9-11.

I have a bad feeling that the Muslims will pull off something even bigger than 9-11. this Admin is busy diverting funds to shut up dissent, rather than protect the United States.
After all we have the years of dissecting WACO, and then 9-11 happened.

But then maybe that is exactly what this Admin hopes for, then martial Law becomes an option.

The thing about this radical bunch in and around this Admin, is that they are all about violent destruction of the U.S Constitution.

I pray you are right. But half this country voted the danger in- and if even half of those Americans are serious still, we have a divided nation and it will get very, very ugly.
What are we prepared to do?
And THEN what are we prepared to do?

I think we know the opposition’s answer- and the lengths to which they are prepared to go.
Half of America still has to answer- once it has the guts
( or is forced) to consider the question.

Who knows? They’ll eventually have to produce some kind of evidence if they’re going to put these people on trial. We’ll see if it holds up to scrutiny. That said, if you’re emailing IED schematics, you’ll likely draw unwanted attention.

True- best analogy I could come up with before the coffee and chicory kicked in.
Maybe one kid with a gun-vs- a gang of Crips and Bloods?

It’s the changing story that makes me wonder. Somebody needs to explain why CAIR meeting in Chicago gasped when told about this intended “cop shooting”, why they were following it so closely, and why a a months-long plot done relatively openly and investigated by tips from a Muslim member of a militia was initially billed as a “Muslims as victims” story.

I read that the search warrant was for bomb-making materials but the description of what came out of the house was lots of guns.

The fact that law enforcement is this capable of being politicized and used for a political agenda - as seen by Janet Napolitano’s memo to try to libel the Tea Party in its infancy - is very, very dangerous for the country. Credibility matters. Unfortunately, much of the governmental system has sold its credibility for cheap political favors. And that is really the bigger story here. I wish the nation as a whole would address that.

I agree- while at the SAME TIME closing down mosques and Islamic schools preaching sedition and violence against this culture.
You don’t leave a building full of people plotting large-scale murder alone while dragging in one guy planning to hit his neighbor. Especially if acting against the smaller danger effectively(blatantly) protects the larger.
I don’t want ANY whackjobs planning roadside bombs- amateurs or pros.
Are we supposed to believe the( secret, hidden) amateurs are stumbled upon before the public and proud pros?

Huh?????

Huh???????

YOU actually believe that plotting to kill a law enforcement official is "Sound Planning"??????

I apologize for replying to your posting; and I promise you that I will NEVER again read anything whatsoever that you post, and I demand that you NEVER post to me again.

Good bye.
