Members called him "Captain Hutaree" or, somewhat cryptically, "RD." A federal indictment calls him the principal leader of the Hutaree militia an extremist group federal authorities say was preparing to "levy war" against the US government by killing police officers.
He is David Brian Stone, and early media accounts sketch a portrait of a man pulled increasing toward the militia movement and its radical fringe. His ex-wife said she left him because he "got carried away." Federal authorities allege that he researched how to build roadside bombs on the Internet. And at least one neighbor said the group that Mr. Stone leads had acquired a certain notoriety around town.
"You don't mess with them," she told the Detroit News.
Hutaree militia arrests: Why the number of militias has tripled since 2008
Monday morning, federal authorities released an indictment against Stone and eight other members of the Hutaree militia. They allege that Stone and his followers were planning an attack sometime in April, perhaps killing an police officer then targeting the funeral with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to raise the death toll. The group saw the police as the arm of a US government, which they felt was the enemy. [Editor's note: IEDs were described incorrectly in the original version of this paragraph.]

Prepare now. You won't have the time and resources to do it later...
>>>> "One man's sound planning is another man's evil conspiracy.
You can indict a ham sandwich for having no mustard, but convicting it of conspiring with the mayonnaise is another matter entirely..." <<<<
No! No! NO! That is not what I am saying, and your reaction is exactly what we should avoid. I feel just as strongly as you do about cop killers HP, I live in Washington State too.
I am saying that “cop killing” is an awfully good charge to make against someone to provoke the exact reaction you just had. I am not saying that cop killing is sound planning though.
From the perspective of a militia, who may be planning what to do after some societal breakdown, what would you plan to do if local law enforcement were tasked by the government to go out and disarm the local populace?
That conversation is useful to have in the proper context, and at the same time is easy to misinterpret to the point of justifying action by the FBI, when in fact there is no proof that any such activity against actual law enforcement was either planned nor being attempted.
Right now we have allegations, serious one, but allegations none the less. I am not going to jump on either bandwagbon until I hear the facts, and those are still missing. In the meantime, please don’t read anything into my remarks that are clearly not there.
Show me one iota where these people have been accused of killing anyone.
Reportedly, the arrests were made BEFORE they killed and their plans seem to be to kill cops.
The statements from people close to them seem to support that.
Frankly, I'm thankful this didn't happen in the South because it would be ten times worse in the eyes of the MSM.
Your argument held water before Waco and Ruby Ridge... sorry... do not trust our government.. never will again. Worst part is that beyond supporting Conservatives and voting... I cannot do anything about it. I do pray to the ONE TRUE GOD.
LLS
Several of them are charged with carrying a weapon during the commission of a crime.
WHAT CRIME??!!
I don't have a clue!!!!!
They better have warrants if they ever show up in these parts.
The message is simle. The FBI wants a shoot out with conservatives. The liberal fascists always do this, They did the same ar Ruby Ridge and WACO under Clinton. This time it will be worse.
Notice how they left the Muslin training camps alone? No intervention there eh Obama?
This time those attacked will turn on the government and win.
I thought a militia was supposed to be a populist type thing. How come I never heard of these guys? Follow Christian news too and they are news to me.
Apparently the charges were by a grand jury...who must have had some evidence.
Here is the “long and short” of this...
Militia groups are POINTLESS going forward. To make any ACTUAL, REAL and PERMANENT change we are going to need the legitimacy of the state level of government.
The focus going forward needs to be on obtaining a “critical mass” of representation in specific states. Hint, trying to convert Massachusetts or Connecticut to freedom friendly states is just as F’ing pointless as militias. The focus needs to be on states like Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, Nebraska,etc... Starting with the states that are poised to “tip” first.
Once a state is “tipped” it must immediately begin nullifying federal usurpation and in general become antagonistic to everything the fedgov has done in the last 70 years. The primary “short term” goal is secession of the state and people from the tyranny of the marxist fedgov after the fedgov has failed to comply with a list of requirements set forth by the state and its people. This “list” will be of a nature that the fedgov CANNOT comply without utterly destroying the socialist infrastructure that has been put in place.
At no point will the state or the people INITIATE a violent act against the people of another state or employees of the fedgov. This does not mean we will not protect the citizens from the federal employees, it just means that we will not initiate violence without provocation. It will be clearly spelled out what constitutes provocation.
Most likely the fedgov WILL initiate violence and provoke the hell out of the states. At this point, the individuals who once took part in these militias and that have appropriate training might be needed and would report to state authorities as individuals who would be assigned to units under state command and control. At no time would roving bands of militia groups be productive or in fact tolerated. Defending a state is a matter that requires a high level of coordination and C&C and autonomous militias do not fit within that infrastructure.
So... The short of it.. If your in a “militia” go ahead and “train” to the best of your abilities, but in no way should you ever even begin to “plan” for anything that even remotely involves some type of “action”. If/when the time come to “take up arms” it will be done at the request and authority of the state government and you will not be operating within your “militia” group, you will be following the orders of officers appointed above you.
If these people actually were planning to attack cops they need to be put away. Period. Doesn't matter what their political views are, they needed to be stopped.
What people are complaining about is that there are KNOWN terrorist groups, of a certain middle-eastern religion, running loose in this country which seems to have a "hands off" policy. Even when they are arrested it is an "isolated" incident and their religion is NEVER mentioned in the headline.
There you have it!
Succinctly put- thank you!
This is like worrying about skin cancer while people are planning to do you in with bio-terrorism and nukes.
You don’t want any of it- but remove the biggest threat FIRST!
No, I meant keep whatever firearm you wish and carry it if you need to, but don’t give the feds an excuse to demonize the legitimate protests that are going on that have NO violence at them. They are attempting to use the line that we are the radicals and if they can gather enough video that makes us look like crazies, they will.
They had the testimony of a Federal Agent and some pictures of people in camo. What do you think happened next?
Headlines screamed "The White Christian Militias are coming, minorities and children to be hit hardest"?
In no way, shape, or form am I suggesting that violent Muslim extremist should not be investigated and prosecuted rigorously. There was a certain degree of urgency in this action because it sounds like their plot was about to go operational. Law enforcement has a difficult task determining which of these groups are basically talk and which ones are ready and willing to take action.
