I thought a militia was supposed to be a populist type thing. How come I never heard of these guys? Follow Christian news too and they are news to me.

In addition, the grand jury charged all nine defendants with carrying or possessing a firearm during a crime of violence on at least one occasion.

Apparently the charges were by a grand jury...who must have had some evidence.

Here is the “long and short” of this...

Militia groups are POINTLESS going forward. To make any ACTUAL, REAL and PERMANENT change we are going to need the legitimacy of the state level of government.

The focus going forward needs to be on obtaining a “critical mass” of representation in specific states. Hint, trying to convert Massachusetts or Connecticut to freedom friendly states is just as F’ing pointless as militias. The focus needs to be on states like Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Utah, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, Nebraska,etc... Starting with the states that are poised to “tip” first.

Once a state is “tipped” it must immediately begin nullifying federal usurpation and in general become antagonistic to everything the fedgov has done in the last 70 years. The primary “short term” goal is secession of the state and people from the tyranny of the marxist fedgov after the fedgov has failed to comply with a list of requirements set forth by the state and its people. This “list” will be of a nature that the fedgov CANNOT comply without utterly destroying the socialist infrastructure that has been put in place.

At no point will the state or the people INITIATE a violent act against the people of another state or employees of the fedgov. This does not mean we will not protect the citizens from the federal employees, it just means that we will not initiate violence without provocation. It will be clearly spelled out what constitutes provocation.

Most likely the fedgov WILL initiate violence and provoke the hell out of the states. At this point, the individuals who once took part in these militias and that have appropriate training might be needed and would report to state authorities as individuals who would be assigned to units under state command and control. At no time would roving bands of militia groups be productive or in fact tolerated. Defending a state is a matter that requires a high level of coordination and C&C and autonomous militias do not fit within that infrastructure.

So... The short of it.. If your in a “militia” go ahead and “train” to the best of your abilities, but in no way should you ever even begin to “plan” for anything that even remotely involves some type of “action”. If/when the time come to “take up arms” it will be done at the request and authority of the state government and you will not be operating within your “militia” group, you will be following the orders of officers appointed above you.

If we find that this group is one of those, then we should applaud the work of law enforcement to close it down.

If these people actually were planning to attack cops they need to be put away.  Period.  Doesn't matter what their political views are, they needed to be stopped.

What people are complaining about is that there are KNOWN terrorist groups, of a certain middle-eastern religion, running loose in this country which seems to have a "hands off" policy.  Even when they are arrested it is an "isolated" incident and their religion is NEVER mentioned in the headline.

There you have it!
Succinctly put- thank you!
This is like worrying about skin cancer while people are planning to do you in with bio-terrorism and nukes.
You don’t want any of it- but remove the biggest threat FIRST!

No, I meant keep whatever firearm you wish and carry it if you need to, but don’t give the feds an excuse to demonize the legitimate protests that are going on that have NO violence at them. They are attempting to use the line that we are the radicals and if they can gather enough video that makes us look like crazies, they will.

They had the testimony of a Federal Agent and some pictures of people in camo. What do you think happened next?

Headlines screamed "The White Christian Militias are coming, minorities and children to be hit hardest"?

In no way, shape, or form am I suggesting that violent Muslim extremist should not be investigated and prosecuted rigorously. There was a certain degree of urgency in this action because it sounds like their plot was about to go operational. Law enforcement has a difficult task determining which of these groups are basically talk and which ones are ready and willing to take action.

"...According to the indictment, anyone who happened on the exercise could be killed if he or she didn't acquiesce to Hutaree demands...

"But I didn't say Simon Says!...Boom!"

But seriously, this sounds more and more like veritable tripe by the passing hour.

What is interesting to note is that at the end of that article, FBI Agent Brad Garrett states, '"This crowd tends to be heavily armed and they are all conspiracy theorists that the government is trying to take over," he said.'

Ummm... Health care? Auto manufacturers? Banks? Home loans?

The government IS taking over everything and that is NO CONSPIRACY.

But now...Anyone espousing such facts can be painted with the "militia, conspiracy-nut, whackjob" brush and ignored. The meme has been planted.

Your argument held water before Waco and Ruby Ridge... sorry... do not trust our government.. never will again.

I am confused about your position. So even if it is shown that law enforcement acted on good intelligence and thwarted a viable terrorist action before it was enacted, you wouldn't applaud the action? Because they over-reacted at Waco and Ruby Ridge, is law enforcement obligated to inaction?

BTW, I don't know if law enforcement acted correctly or not in this situation. All I am saying is let's wait until we know more about the situation before we jump to judgment.

There is still no underlying crime.

They are not charged with Sedition, and Conspiracy to commit Sedition; rather, they are charged with “seditious conspiracy” which in my view is an entirely different thing.

Have you ever heard of someone being charged with “murderous conspiracy”?? Of course not, but plenty of people are charged with Murder, and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. “Murderous Conspiracy” is rightly known as “communicating a threat”, but it is not treated the same as murder.

I am with you. I realized after the ATF and FBI murder of the Branch Davidians (and a Congressional whitewash of the deed) that this government had slipped over the line to becoming a tyranny. For years I thought this could be reversed at the ballot box, but I have far less confidence of that now.

What is happening now is the government is subtly trying to link all opposition to the "right-wing militias" and racist hatemongering in an attempt to criminalize dissent.

If they did, then I would agree... but how do we know? To this day, the government claims that they were justified at Waco and Ruby Ridge. They can fabricate evidence to substantiate their claims. We have their track record of lies... such as denying the many terrorist attacks that have taken place since 9/11 are just isolated Amish causing problems. I do not believe anything I see or hear unless substantiated by independent sources. How can anyone with a brain ignore the lies and deceit that has become our once Great Nation? How?

That is what appears to exactly be what is happening. I love my Country... I grew up to serve and protect her... but she has been damaged and the media that is supposed to stop this from ever happening has taken and active part in the attack from within.

but how do we know?

That was my point. It is too early to tell. I don't immediately assume that the government is right nor do I immediately assume the government is wrong.

As appalled as I was by Waco and Ruby Ridge, I guess I haven't reached your level of cynicism yet.
