Job Creation Expected In March As Recovery Builds

WASHINGTON – The economy is likely to have added jobs last month for only the second time since the recession began 27 months ago.

That, economists say, would mark a significant turning point in the recovery. It would mean the worst is over and that more job creation could be on the way in the months ahead. But, it does not mean enough new jobs are being created to bring down the unemployment rate.

As many as 100,000 of the job gains could reflect temporary hiring for the U.S. Census. Roughly 50,000 more might simply be a rebound from February, when massive snowstorms on the East Coast kept some workers off company payrolls.

That would leave a respectable 40,000 new jobs created by private employers. Much of the gains are likely to come from the health care and temporary help industries.

Only the AP would consider a paltry 40K gain "respectable." I see they're still blaming the weather for the early year numbers.

**Rolling Eyes** Those numbers are highly anemic, seasonal non-farm jobs that always pick up this time of the year, and drop in November. It’s construction. Obama didn’t make the winter go away.

The unemployment rate is forecast to stay at 9.7 percent for the third straight month, according to economists surveyed by Thomson Reuters

Given the number of new people entering the workforce every month, this does not seem possible. I cannot imagine the manipulation that must be taking place. Makes Enron accounting look amateurish.

Nice. Jobs that produce nothing being paid for with borrowed money.

I don’t know what planet these guys are on, but Scotty forgot to beam them up...

I guess we’ll have to endure seeing the word “unexpected” again in a month when their magical recovery fails to materialize for the upteenth time.

Mmm-hmm. Remember during the Bush years when any positive employment news whatsoever was met with the criticism, "Well yeah, but all we're doing is replacing high paying professional jobs with part-time burger-flipping jobs"?

As if that's not the case now?! How many people who have been laid-off recently actually found a new job making equal or better pay than the one they were laid-off from?

I lost my job last fall, still have had no luck finding anything, and I have no realistic hope whatsosever of ever again earning the kind of 6-figure income I made from my last job. So even when I do find new work, I'll become a positive employment statistic but it will still be a net loss for the economy because I'm downwardly-mobile (as is pretty much the whole country).

There is no recovery!

LOL. Why do people still take anything economists say seriously? The past couple of years of them telling us we're in a "recovery" should have eliminated any sort of credibility these charlatans thought they had.

I will be lucky to find a job making a third of what I made before doing the work of multiple people who were also laid off. If I could get a response to a resume that is.

Where are these burger jobs? I can cook.

Yeah and just barely. A huge, bloated government that can’t do anything right or anything quickly somehow manages to tabulate March employment numbers (favorably in their minds) in 48hrs. Imagine that!

So in a month we will see a revised report where the jobs numbers dropped “unexpectedly” again? ;-)

In this case "recovery" is to the present economy as "peace process" is to the Middle East.

Just a couple of days ago ADP, who handles a lot of corporate payrolls, reported a loss of 23,000 for March.

ACORN (or whatever they're calling themselves these days) doing legwork for the DNC on TARP money is not a recovery.

"Nice. Jobs that produce nothing being paid for with borrowed money."

And used to sell the public on a fantasy "recovery".

census jobs, all temporary in nature and even counting these the job creation is well short of the 200,000 or so needed each month simply to stay even with the ever expanding work force.

What happens in September when the million people hired for the census are laid off? How will the libs manage to hide this massive job loss?
