I've used this reasoning against someone who goes to churches like these before. Here's their counter-argument :

"We are helping to create automotive, TV and consumer electronics jobs by doing our part in being consumers of these businesses. That creates/sustains jobs and puts food on the table. Which means less hungry and naked people. We can then use the rest of the donation money that's sure to flow in as a result of this program to help the poor."

I'm not kidding you, this is what they tell me. They can rationalize as well as anyone.
