The Shark Tank was hinting yesterday about a major endorsement to come next week, although I wasn’t sure if that was an April Fools joke or not. And if it wasn’t, I figured the obvious suspects were Palin or, more importantly, Jeb Bush.
Surprise.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will campaign with Senate candidate Marco Rubio.
The two will appear together Monday in Miami, where Giuliani is expected to endorse Rubio in the Republican primary against Gov. Charlie Crist.
In a statement released by the Rubio campaign, Giuliani said, “Marco Rubio is one of the Republican Party’s true rising stars. He’s a bold leader who will bring common sense to Washington where it’s badly needed.”

In July, ‘07, Crist visited with Giuliani in the Hamptons: “I’d like to support you,” Crist said.
The next day, Giuliani shared the news with his aide Tony Carbonetti. “I think we got him; it went very well,” Giuliani said.
Carbonetti was familiar enough with Giuliani’s lexicon to know what that meant: Rudy thought it was a done deal. Seeing Giuliani’s strong poll numbers in Florida, Crist had apparently concluded that Rudy was the horse to ride. Carbonetti, a no-nonsense fixer who’d been Rudy’s chief of staff at City Hall, followed up with Crist’s main political guy, George LeMieux, flying to Tallahassee to meet with him and plan the endorsement.

Agreed. I have some differences of opinion with Rudy but he is a mean, vicious, nasty SOB. That is exactly what we need right now.
Oooooh, now that the race is already over. If Giuliani wanted payback, he would have endorsed Rubio when it mattered.
Yes, that was really apparent when he ran wimpering with his tail between his leg from Hillary Clinton. He isn’t in the top 50% of the toughest New Yorkers with a gigantic lisp.
Rudy Giuliani never would have won either Florida or Pennsylvania. He ended up with something like one delegate to his name after the 2008 primary season, which tells me that there would have been massive numbers of Republican voters casting votes for third-party candidates on Election Day rather than vote for him.

All I know is he has been endorsing pro-life, pro-gun conservatives since 98...(here in my State).

Hopefully he means well now. I will never forgive him for the lawsuits he filed against gun makers however. It indicates a great flaw in his reasoning processes.
Yep. Rudy would have been the better candidate. He’s capable of outwitting and demolishing Obama’s glibness.

Rudy Giuliani did run against John McCain for the nomination and he sucked and McCain, Huckabee, and Romney wiped the floor with him.

Marco Rubio has won his race. Crist is toast.
I would have preferred either Rudi or Romney as the standard bearer in 2008. At least, we would have not had them potentially running in 2012.

But since folks like you wouldn’t have voted for him, Obama would have won anyway, I guess.
Primaries are very different than elections. Rudy was unable to win the GOP nomination, but I think he would have presented a better, more coherent candidate than McCain did, thus making the election more competetive.
