They have the endorsement of Sarah Palin and the support of a few fearless Hollywood celebrities. Co-founded by former congressman Barry Goldwater, Combat Veterans for Congress is a feisty political action committee endorsing 23 fiscally conservative, Republican combat veterans running for office in 16 states - from Jesse Kelly in Arizona to Vaughn Ward in Idaho - both former Marines.

I think this is a good idea that will resonate with the public. It’s time to pass the torch to a new generation, tempered in war and ready to make tough decisions and lead, to paraphrase JFK a bit. This country’s political establishment needs to be shaken up and not by phony “reformers” like Obama neither.

Update to be posted tomorrow.
The Combat Veterans For Congress PAC is dedicated to supporting the election of fiscally conservative Combat Veterans to Congress. We seek Combat Veterans For Congress who believe in limited government, will rein in the out of control spending of Congress, are committed to preserving and defending the U.S. Constitution, and will support the independence and freedom of the individual as outlined in the Bill of Rights. We support Combat Veterans For Congress who are dedicated to promoting The Free Enterprise System creating the greatest economic engine in the history of mankind, provide for a strong national defense, and will endorse the teaching of U.S. history and the Founding Fathers core values in educational institutions.
With all due respect, I doubt that you could argue that Murtha or Carter fit these criteria.
I understand and share your frustrations with the so-called Right and agree with you as to "knowing what is in their heart". I cannot speak to any of the other endorsed Combat Veterans for Congress, but Jesse is my son-in-law, and I can tell you this much about what is in his heart, his decision to enter the race was based on many of the same frustrations. His bigest fear, if his campaign is successful, is that there will not be ample like-minded colleagues with the political will to effect the changes this country needs.
Thank you.
