Eye surgeon Rand Paul on Monday will launch his largest television ad buy yet in Kentucky's hotly contested GOP Senate primary.

Paul's new 30 second ad, which campaign manager David Adams said is at least a 1000 point broadcast buy in every major media market in the state, seeks to paint his primary opponent Trey Grayson as the candidate of Washington, D.C., insiders.

"Grayson's raising campaign money from the very people who supported the bailouts," the new ad states. "His biggest event, hosted by lobbyists for bailed out AIG. .. .Rand Paul can't be bought. He'll take our government back by taking on the Washington machine."

It's no secret that Grayson is the preferred candidate of the national party establishment, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who has worked to raise money for the Kentucky secretary of state. But it's the Grayson campaign that has long tried to claim that Paul is the candidate who is being controlled by forces outside of Kentucky.

I suspect that Grayson’s incoherent reply to Dr. Paul’s ad will be the equivalent of getting 2 ads for the price of one.

We need a few more Republican officials with Libertarian perspective. I could support either Republican candidate, though i was upset at Paul’s gaffe involving Iran.

In the meantime, Ron Paul and Alan Grayson are good buddies in the U. S. House of Representatives. Go figure.
