What the Church needs to do is to get rid of all the pedophile priests and that includes any homosexuals in the clergy as well. Whatever happened to priests taking vows of celibacy? If priests are not allowed to marry and they break their vow of celibacy with anyone, then they should be defrocked immediately and prosecuted especially if they do so with any underage person. And that goes for nuns as well.
The numbers are way down. Read the John Jay report at this website:
http://www.weirdload.com/johnjayreport.pdf and it goes into detail on the numbers. 81% were homosexual attacks, of this 75% of the victims were 11 and older. It also shows that how it exploded in the 60’s and 70’s and it became more and more homosexual. Then the numbers started to fall.
(Bob Bennett, Gov Keating, Leon Panetta and other folks are on the panel.)
I think looking at the issue as pedophilia obscures the cause. By and large the victims are pubescent or post pubescent boys, and the accused can be classified as homosexuals.
On the bright side for the church, there is a significant drop in accusations against priests ordained in the past two or three decades. Accusations are still cropping up, but they are for the most part against priests ordained prior to 1979.
Most aren’t pedophiles. A pedophile only goes after prepubescent kids. Average age of puberty in US is 11 with min 9 and max 14. Of the Catholic Church child abuse cases from what I’ve read 80-85% are boys and of that 80-85% are past the age of puberty. That means it’s not pedophilia as defined by the dictionary and the current DSM. What you have is no different than men who like 14-18 year old girls. You can call them child abusers but don’t call them pedophiles. In this case you have closeted homosexuals using their positions of authority and respect to molest under age post pubescent boys. The terms pedophilia and pedophilia are tossed around by the MSM and the talking head to disguise the true nature of the crimes being committed. The next lines usually out of their mouths is usually pedophilia is usually done by heterosexual males and it’s a slur on the gay community. They mix apples and oranges to protect the gay community from these wackos in the Catholic Church who are molesting most of the boys.
The same BTW is true of the Boy Scouts most of the boys in the Boy Scouts who are molested are past the age of puberty since you have to be 10 at least to join the Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts is different. Any molestation going on there is in all probability pedophilia done by a pedophile.
The media likes to play Humpty Dumpty with the terms. As Humpty Dumpty said: “it means just what I choose it to mean neither more nor less.”
To put that in context:
” `You’re holding it upside down!’ Alice interrupted.
`To be sure I was!’ Humpty Dumpty said gaily, as she turned it round for him. `I thought it looked a little queer. As I was saying, that seems to be done right — though I haven’t time to look it over thoroughly just now — and that shows that there are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents — ‘
`Certainly,’ said Alice.
`And only one for birthday presents, you know. There’s glory for you!’
`I don’t know what you mean by “glory,”’ Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don’t — till I tell you. I meant “there’s a nice knock-down argument for you!”’
`But “glory” doesn’t mean “a nice knock-down argument,”’ Alice objected.
`When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’
`The question is,’ said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.’
`The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master - - that’s all.’
Alice was too much puzzled to say anything, so after a minute Humpty Dumpty began again. `They’ve a temper, some of them — particularly verbs, they’re the proudest — adjectives you can do anything with, but not verbs — however, I can manage the whole of them! Impenetrability! That’s what I say!’
`Would you tell me, please,’ said Alice `what that means?`
`Now you talk like a reasonable child,’ said Humpty Dumpty, looking very much pleased. `I meant by “impenetrability” that we’ve had enough of that subject, and it would be just as well if you’d mention what you mean to do next, as I suppose you don’t mean to stop here all the rest of your life.’
`That’s a great deal to make one word mean,’ Alice said in a thoughtful tone.
`When I make a word do a lot of work like that,’ said Humpty Dumpty, `I always pay it extra.’
`Oh!’ said Alice. She was too much puzzled to make any other remark.
`Ah, you should see `em come round me of a Saturday night,’ Humpty Dumpty went on, wagging his head gravely from side to side: `for to get their wages, you know.’ ....”
