ISTANBUL — When Turkey's family affairs minister recently described homosexuality as a curable disease, she was roundly criticized for discrimination and flouting human rights.
But for activists her remarks only underscore what they say is increasing prejudice, discrimination and violence -- even from police -- against homosexuals and transgender people in this Muslim-majority country stuck between its conservative roots and flourishing modernism.
A total of 45 gays and transgender people were killed over three years in "hate murders", said Demet Demir, a transsexual and leading activist from Istanbul-LGBTT, a civic body promoting homosexual rights.
"In February alone, five people were killed. In Antalya (southern Turkey), a transsexual friend was brutally murdered; her throat was slit.

Unlike other Muslim countries, same-sex relationships have never been criminalised in Turkey.
The Islamist-rooted government has enacted a series of rights reforms but has turned a blind eye to gay rights.

Homophobic/Homophobia is the wrong word - cuz it means “fear of homosexuality”. It actually is, “DISGUST of homosexuality”, so we need a new word. I certainly don’t “fear” it, but I am truly DISGUSTED by it!

The homosexual agenda is a world wide movement to drag the entire world into the cesspool of same sex sodomy, which includes the entire continuum of transsexualism, pederasty, unimaginable promiscuity, S&M, torture, drugs and a huge range of horrible disease. It's not just a problem in the US and Europe. It's worse than a pandemic of flu or smallpox. Just as in pandemics of physical illnesses, there needs to be quarantine and cure, and for those who cannot/will not be cured, isolation. IOW - back into the closets - and OUT OF THE SCHOOLS!

Actually the perverted muslim world has always accepted homosexuality...men on boys. It is getting increasingly difficult to get information in English on the ineternet...as sites regarding this are being taken down. But persistence can pay off.
