It’d be better for morale to just tell Burger King to arrange for their own transport of supplies... and if they can’t, then Burger King would be the ones to shut down their store.

That way, the average GI Joe doesn’t have to see their leadership stripping away their last tastes of home.

I was part of a morale flight once in the Persian Gulf to fly Pizza Hut Pizza from Manama to non-navy “troops” stationed in the Persian Gulf.

Truly was “Pizza Hut Pizza to Go”!

Had a blast.

Like I said to Mr Rogers, the article states that the space is needed for stuff necessary for war effort. If that’s true, then they’ve gotta put the war first. I agree. Bullets are more important than burgers.

I got nothing against burgers. It’s just I got everything in favor of bullets.

Mr Rogers thinks the report about space restrictions is wrong/a lie. I’m not sure if he’s on the ground there now, but I think he has been in the past. In either case, that makes his take on the situation far better than my own.

I was there in 2007. At first I was in Sharana. Resupply was difficult. We once went 5 weeks with no mail, and the PX was only open twice for 3 hours each when I was there. The Chow Hall was pretty good when supplies arrived, and pretty marginal when they were late. There was no fast food of any kind in Sharana.

I transferred to Jalalabad. It was on the main drag from Pakistan to Kabul. We had regular supplies. The chow hall was pretty good, and there was a hut for the PX that was open regularly. There was still no fast food, but you could get bread from the Afghans.

Bagram had great chow halls, so the fast food was more a cultural thing than a need. The pizza was local - I have no idea what the meat toppings were, but the few times I passed thru Bagram, I didn’t get sick. But it was NOT a regular Pizza Hut pizza.

Still, it was pizza and a change from the chow hall.

The Burger King seemed pretty much like a normal Burger King. I only ate there a couple of times - it cost too much and the chow hall was competitive.

But resupply to Bagram was easy.

Kabul, where the General lives, had NATO countries and I was told the food was incredible - but I never passed thru there. Kandahar was supposed to be like a little Bagram, but I was never there.

Now I’m a retired old fart, so any opinions are outdated and offered free of charge...
