The Doomsday Dilemma (O not briefed for months on nukes!!!)
Newsweek ^ | April 3 | John Barry & Evan Thomas

Posted on 04/07/2010 7:47:56 AM PDT by PghBaldy

...According to a knowledgeable source who would not be identified discussing sensitive national-security matters, President Obama wasn't briefed on the U.S. nuclear-strike plan against Russia and China until some months after he had taken office. "He thought it was insane," says the source. (The reason for the delay is unclear; the White House did not respond to repeated inquiries.)...

So ... should we feel better or worse that Obama’s finger isn’t (and never was) on the red button?

The Obamaloon thought a plan was “insane”?

Has that idiot looked in the mirror lately?

He’s never encountered a difficult idea in his life - and wouldn’t know what to do if he did.

He is the DEFINITION of a University marshmallow major.

Last I checked, we haven’t had a detonation since Japan in 1945, so the insane plan has worked out well for about 65 years.

I'm pretty certain now on what I only suspected when Obama became CIC...

Obama will not retaliate an attack on the US with 'launch on warning'...

Obama will not 'launch on impact' of an enemy's warheads...

Obama simply will not launch...no retaliation...Obama will allow the US to be destroyed.

No. THIS IS NOT TRUE>

I don't care what an “informed” source leaks to the press, for whatever self serving purpose this false story has for obama.

Every US President is fully briefed and fully capable of exercising the actions needed as CinC in case of general war- immediately upon inauguration. His top level intelligence briefings began immediately after the Nov coup/election, to prepare him.

obama knew ( at least, he was briefed) on that funny looking briefcase (aka “football”) carried by his always present military aide.

Now, is obama smart enough to understand and to retain and to RESPECT what he was briefed?

No, imho.

Is he stupid and arrogant enough to blow off what he was briefed about our nuclear posture and his responsibilities, because he figured he'd just vote “present” until he got around to ordering people to change everything in that briefing?

Yes, imho.

Any so-called "Commander in Chief" who waits months to find out what the plan is, is criminally incompetent.

The problem is in this case his new plan is nothing short of TREASON!

If the time comes, he’ll be removed. There are more than enough patriots to do it. No way we’ll commit national suicide against the Chinese and Russians (we’ll let Congress do it slowly, and legally, through burdensome laws against business).

Given the outcome perhaps he shouldn’t be briefed on anything important. Did you notice how NewsWeak tried to give him cover by invoking republican presidents who also wanted nuke disarmament? They failed to mention those past presidents and O aren’t even in the same intellectual universe.

Its not surprising he wasn’t briefed. If they didn’t bother to give him some cover for the simple question ‘Who is your favorite White Sox player?’ then why would anyone expect he could answer questions on weightier subjects. LOL, it gives the distinct impression he’s WAY out of the loop and in real life he’s not so bright.

Ok ... his posture on our nuclear policy, and what he will do or not do, is beginning to truly skirt the boundaries of the “T” word. Any president who would not act to defend the USA in time of attack has violated not only his oath of office, he is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Unbelievable. Supposed nuclear policy wonk Obmama, who wrote on nukes, proliferation, and arms control as a Columbia undergrad, and worked on arms control and proliferation in the Senate with Senator Lugar, is clueless about the SIOP.

I knew what the SIOP was when I was in college in the 1980s. I knew what counterforce and countervalue targets were. Nuclear policy and arms control were popular political science topics in the 1980s.

Obama more and more seems fake. He is not smart (remember the amazingly stupid car insurance anecdote at Blair House), and he has little knowledge or interest in the very topics we are told he is knowledgeable and interested in.

I don't know about *ordered* but I recall the story of Clinton's aide with the football having to walk on the streets of D.C., tote it back to the White House, as he was left out of the motorcade. Someone else may be able to locate the story, provide better details, I'm relying on memory, Rush telling the story that day.

By 2002, President George W. Bush was signing off on a document containing his administration's Nuclear Posture Review, an -analysis of how America's nuclear arms might be used. Bush scribbled on the cover, "But why do we still have to have so many?"

Fewer weapons make the world more dangerous. When we have few enough weapons that an enemy can wipe out our arsenal in a first strike then nuclear war becomes winnable. Our arsenal must be large enough that an enemy has to fear the repercussion of an attack.
